As a blogger, I get a lot of emails that come through my inbox and this one from Country Living got my attention when it mentioned the new Country Living Lake house on Lake Martin, AL. I’ve been to this lake a few times and it is absolutely gorgeous! There’s a whole spread on Country Living online that you can check out for more details, but here’s the short version, text from the magazine:
Country Living Lake House of the Year, is a collaboration with Nashville architect Jonathan Torode (Pfeffer Torode Architecture), builder Chad Calhoun (Classic Homes), and Russell Lands On Lake Martin, a high-end real estate developer on this Alabama lake, just two hours from Birmingham, and roughly 2.5 from Atlanta.
“The design is less about being ‘timeless’ and more about creating a place where people lose track of time,” says Jonathan. And because some Russell Lands residents choose to live on Lake Martin year-round, Page Mullens, Country Living Style Director, fought the urge to “lake it up” indoors and instead designed a space that counterbalances more rustic elements (wood beams, a stone fireplace) with effortlessly elegant furniture, finishes, and fixtures.
I loved the photos of this gorgeous lake house and thought you all would too! Please enjoy the tour of this beautiful lake house on Lake Martin. I think lake living would be mighty fine, don’t you?
I really love the relaxed elegant choices of furnishings and colors in this house, something I’d love to emulate in our new home. You can see more details of all the furnishings at the link above to the magazine article.
This area is a pantry.
A beautiful porch always get my attention and this one is beautiful!
You just can’t beat a lake view, can you? What a gorgeous spot to relax. I loved sharing this since we are getting to the end of summer and summer just flies by so fast. Relax and savor what’s left of the summer!
I’ll be back to share pics of our beach trip this year, so stay tuned for those soon!

I love that tile in the bathroom. Looks like birch trees. Never would have considered it, but it’s perfect for the setting.

Perfection x 2. I have loved Lake Martin my entire life – to pricey for us, but we can dream. I love the master bedroom – denim and flowers.

I was able to go see the home a few weeks ago with girlfriends. I was gorgeous. I could spend all day on the screen porch.

I just wonder if this is a primary home or secondary home. Either would be a dream. I’ve visited my employer who has a second home there – and most houses on Lake Martin are not for the Joe-average person. I have to say, when I was growing up (back in the dark ages) people had lake houses – but they were NOTHING like this; usually furnished with cast offs and extremely rudimentary (some being a single wide trailer). A lake house was a place to live simply and enjoy the water – nothing as luxurious as this. Oh well – it’s a new day and a new time. Beautiful place!

Hey, Becky, I hear you and that’s the way lake houses were over here in GA too. Lake Altoona had shacks and tiny cottages surrounding the shores. But lots of fancy lake houses have popped up over the years and they are beautiful. I like to admire them, although it’s out of my league too.
