Feature Friday: Up to Date Interiors

This home decor blog world is so big that it even spreads internationally, which is not really a surprise since we all love beautiful spaces.  Today’s featured blogger is new to me, Kathy with Up to Date Interiors.  And she happens to be in a military family and lives in Okinawa, Japan, so this is definitely a different type of Feature Friday than normal.  She lives in a rental space and loves to share ideas for small spaces and rental spaces, since there may be many out there in the same situation.  I think you’ll enjoy her pretty tour of her apartment in Japan.  Come along and see how someone lives overseas!

This reminds me of House Hunters International. It’s always fun to see how people in other countries live and what the prices are in those countries.  Kathy lives in a smallish apartment with her hubby and 2 children. As you can see there is a small patio space outside that they enjoy.

Her two adorable children hanging out on the swings. Looks pretty cozy to me.

Even with a small space, you can still enjoy an outdoor entertaining area.  Outdoor spaces are so important to me.

Enjoy the tour through Kathy’s cute apartment and I think everything is explanatory as you walk through.

The entry foyer bookcases welcome her guests in from the front door.

Cute gallery wall!

This is one space that caught my eye.  Look how she wallpapered her slick white kitchen cabinets with removable wallpaper!  I think that’s a brilliant idea for a rental space that you want to spruce up a bit.

This floral black and white looks so pretty in there with the gold pulls.

A pantry shelf holds pretty dishes.

Laundry room space

Master bedroom

And her daughter’s room

I hope you enjoyed this peek into an apartment in Japan! I thought it was a fascinating way to see how Kathy lives overseas in her military family.  Stop over to visit Kathy at Up to Date Interiors for any questions about her home, I know she would love to meet you!

Very nice! Looks like she is living large in a small apartment.

Love it! I lived in Okinawa when I was in 5th grade! My dad was stationed at Kadena AFB there. We lived in an apartment off the base that was very Japanese style with the sliding wooden doors between rooms and parquet floors. It was pretty different from what I was used to, lots of fun. I even had some Japanese friends that lived nearby that I played with!

Since I grew up on Okinawa (Kadena AFB), this was fun to see! I am going to follow her blog also.

What a lovely small space! It certainly doesn’t look small and Kathy’s decor ideas are amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this post Rhoda. I’m going to be a new follower of hers on Instagram.

Hi Rhoda, I want to tell you how much I look forward to your “Feature Friday” posts and I hope you never stop. Another favorite of mine is your “Fashion Over 50” – this is a great one for ladies like me that don’t really have a good fashion sense as it helps me put together outfits with more confidence now that I’m older. Thanks again.

Thank you, Laura, I’ve enjoyed doing Feature Friday for many years and as long as there are new blogs, I don’t think I’ll run out of houses to share. So glad you’re enjoyed Fashion over 50 too, that’s been fun for me.
