Happy Friday! We are wrapping up the week and still working on the bathroom. Poor Mark has a case of shingles and we had no idea until it was well along. Who knew that shingles can mimic sciatica, that’s what he thought he was dealing with. He’s been on meds this week, so hopefully will be on the mend soon, but the bathroom is taking a backseat now.
I’m headed out of town to a small travel conference in Thomasville, GA, so I’ll share a lot of that when I return. Also, I’m starting to run out of new shares for Feature Friday so for now I’m going to reshare some oldies but goodies from the past. Enjoy!
I loved this article from Traditional Home, highlighting a newly built home in Atlanta. This Atlanta interior designer worked with her architect to produce a beautiful new home, that looks old. She wanted the house to appear as if it has been here forever and used architectural items in the house to achieve the look.
You can read the entire article above and see all the details on this beautifully designed and decorated home. You are going to be inspired!
This lovely home looks like it belongs in the French countryside. Beautiful exterior!
You can read all about how the interior of the home was designed and implemented.
Beautiful, traditional furnishings.
I especially love this wall with the center table and gallery wall above. This speaks to symmetry and beauty at the same time.
Close up of the blue and white accessories, always a classic.
Kitchen eating area. Love this! This home is far more than most of us can imagine having, but what great ideas to glean.
One totally gorgeous kitchen, don’t you agree?
A soothing and calming bedroom.
Along with a masterbath that is to die for.
Be still my heart, with this outdoor fireplace and covered porch.
So, even if we can’t afford a gorgeous home such as this and I’m speaking for myself here, let’s get some ideas from it, shall we! I hope you enjoyed this tour from Traditional Home as much as I did!

I love the exterior of the home, so FC. I think the mirror over the fireplace would be a great project to copy. Lots of inspiration in this home.

I love this house, every inch of it, especially the window shades. I will try to copy them– I’ll give it a shot. Love the chairs in the kitchen , too. They remind me of the Calais chair at Pottery Barn I have my eye on.!

I loved this one, too, Rhoda! The beams in some of the room are inspired. Wonderful marriage of Old World and contemporary. 🙂
Happy Friday!

Rhoda, it is a beautiful home and I was lucky enough to tour it in person a few years ago when it was on a home tour. It was my favorite on the tour.

I love how serene each room is. It is not over-decorated like so many of the rooms we see in blogland.

All the spaces are beautiful, but that covered porch plucks my heart strings! Poor Mark! It sounds like his case of shingles was of the painful variety. I’ve discovered stress to be the main contributing factor when I have a flare up. The prescribed meds have come a long way over the years. Have a great weekend!

Beautiful home. Shingles can be so very painful. We just got our second vaccination of Shingrix ( shingles shot) in December, it is a two part vaccination. I hope Mark starts to feel better soon.

Rhoda,
Thanks for posting this beautiful home! Hope Mark will soon be on the mend. Shingles can be so painful but this is a reminder to those in their 50/60s to get the shingles vaccination. I had one about five years ago but they have a newer vaccination now and my doctor just gave me the prescription to have it. It is a two part vaccination and my hubby had both of his so this is a reminder to get mine done soon. I don’t think it guarantees you wont get the shingles just a much milder case if you do.
Dee says
Get the shingles vaccination everyone over 50 yrs of age. Shame on your physician if he/she has not recommended it.

I must agree with Dee and some others with the advice to get the new ShingleX injections. This one is not a live virus as the older ones were. As soon as i came down with what my internist described as the worst case of shingles she had ever seen we received a bulletin that the new one was available for my husband. He had no reaction with either injection. I have several allergies so my MD and i had made the decision not to have the older one as many actually contracted shingles from it. The neuro pain in the upper(r) quandrant front and back is worse than the initial lesions and the pain prior to the lesions and knowing what you have. I just wish everyone would have it on their calendar for their 50th birthday to begin the injections. Okay i will get off my soapbox now. PLEASE let your friends and family know that 1 in 3 will conract them if you have had chickenpox..

Have you considered sharing Airbnb properties on your Friday feature?
I have two, a pool house turned Airbnb and a cottage in Tryon NC that is just hitting Airbnb in March. I have furnished both with items from thrift stores, consignment stores and local boutiques. If you are interested please email me and I can send you pictures.
Hope Mark feels well soon!

Very beautiful home.
You guys need Shingrix shots if you haven’t gotten them. 2 shots. Much more effective than previous vaccinations. I am not a fan of shots, however shingles can come with many complications so we got the vaccinations.
