Today’s Feature Friday is a young mom and blogger, Melissa, who blogs at The Happier Homemaker. She is mom to three little boys and manages to create a beautiful home on a budget. She’s done a lot of DIY projects herself and shares them at her blog.  She lives in a cute house and she’s done a wonderful job of decorating it for her family.

our-home

Look at that cute house with the dog out front!  Love the color she chose, along with the red door.

home-tour-living-room

Inside the family room is cozy with lots of cushy seating for TV watching.

media-stand-buffet

Melissa made over an old buffet for her media stand and it looks great. I love how repurposing these old pieces work for media stands now.

sitting-room

Sitting room is picture perfect for lounging.

mudroom

She DIY some beadboard and hooks, along with a bench and baskets for her mudroom.  I’m sure that comes in handy with 3 little boys.

Her kitchen island opens up to the family room is is very spacious.

dark-grout-subway-tile

They opted for dark toned cabinets with white subway tile and it looks beautiful.

tone-on-tone-stenciled-wall

A pretty trellis stencil on the headboard wall of the master bedroom is a nice focal point.

Vintage-Chair-Makeover

Melissa is a DIYer too when it comes to furniture makeovers. I love a good Before and After like this thriftstore chair!

office-light-fixture

She’s carved out an office space from a spare bedroom and painted that desk too, as well as DIY’d the curtains.

summer-Entertaining-World-Market

A pretty outdoor entertaining space is festive at night.

patio-makeover

And she’s got some ideas for a DIY patio makeover on her blog too.

I hope you enjoyed this tour of Melissa’s house and please stop over and say hello to The Happier Homemaker.  Happy Friday!

I have been following Melissa’s blog for quite a while, and it amazes me what she gets accomplished with 3 little ones! Not only does she have some amazing projects, she churns out some great recipes, too. So glad you featured her today. Enjoy your weekend, Rhoda! 🙂

Pretty little house. I know these ladies are trying, but we’re not seeing anything new here..lots of copy-cat stuff…hope you can soon say, “Now, here’s something completely different”..we don’t learn by seeing the same stuff over and over again; kinda boring. I’d rather see a tutorial by your Dad on, say, the proper care of tools or the proper uses of tools, stuff like that. you don’t have to post this but I felt compelled to send he message..

Simple, uncluttered and serene. Very nice. The eye can find a place to rest in decor like this — which is important and I think is missing in a lot of what is featured here — and it allows each item to stand out.
