Feature Friday: House Beautiful Whole Home Concept House Nashville

I was invited to the preview of this home, but couldn’t make it since I was headed out of town, but now we all get to see pics of the House Beautiful Whole Home Concept House in Nashville together. I love touring show homes and always get so much inspiration to take home with me. I may never live in a fancy house such as one of these, but it’s so fun to get inspired to make changes at our homes.

I’m getting lots of inspiration from the bathrooms and taking note of materials used, since we are embarking on a master bath renovation early next year. There were lots of pretty baths to see here in the House Beautiful concept home.

There were many famous designers that were part of this house including Vern Yip and Barclay Butera. So I hope you’ll enjoy the inspiration of this gorgeous home in Nashville that House Beautiful created. If you’re in the area, it’s open for tours! Here’s the summary of the house:

The inspiring pages of House Beautiful come to life at the year’s top home tour, the Whole Home Concept House, powered by LG. Built by Castle Homes in partnership with the national magazine, designers from across the United States are providing their design expertise creating a beautiful home with the intention to promote happier, healthier, and smarter living in collaboration with Wellness Within Your Walls. Benefiting the Nashville Symphony, the English Arts & Crafts style home, located in historic Belle Meade, will be open for tour daily, October 18 through November 3. Hours for Monday through Saturday are noon to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., with free shuttle service required and available at Immanuel Baptist Church, 222 Belle Meade Blvd., Nashville, TN.  Tickets are $20 per person. Realtors, presenting a business card, tour for free on Tuesdays. Info and tickets at CastleHomes.com.

I enjoyed the tour and hope you did too! I would have loved to have seen it in person. I always get ideas and concept homes are so interesting to see with all the latest and greatest in home design. I’m especially taking notes on the bathrooms since we’ll be doing our master early next year.

Wow, that is a house – but the styling was not for me. Only one room I truly liked and that was the blue bathroom. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you have sense(cents).

Or good taste, Cathy. lol I didn’t like anything about this house….too cold and sterile to me.

I didn’t like one thing about this flashy, bold house.

Same here! It is just filled with over exaggerated concepts and ideas from designers wanting to create a wow factor, and are not talented enough to know how to stay away from shopaholic interior trends that will not last. Most of the interiors are unbalanced and look uncomfortable going from one room to the next.

Well said, Gayle Olson and Elena. Cathy also had a good point…just because you have money doesn’t mean you have good taste.

Thanks for sharing Rhoda, but this is one of the ugliest show houses I’ve ever seen! Sometimes in an effort to show extra drama and stand out in the world of designers, I think they go overboard and end up with something not attractive at all.

I kept waiting to see what room was done by Barclay Butera, whom I love! As soon as I saw the patio I knew it was him. Just love the blue and orange them out here, looks so inviting!

I loved this house! There were so many great ideas and tons of my favorite…blue! Showhouses are always meant to be “out there” a bit, that is how designers get recognized. I saw something to inspire me in almost every room. And that closet and outdoor room with the fireplace…wowza!

Seems like we are headed back to the 70’s for influence here. I think this is going to be a love it or hate it house. 😉 Thank you for sharing it. We need to see all kinds of new design ideas going on out there.

This is definitely a unique home, but really not for me. I loved the laundry room! The living room felt more like a doctor’s office rather then a place to relax. Have to say, I would pass on this one.

Almost every picture had an “ick” factor in it. Just not my taste I guess.

I understand that this house is done by different designers but would anyone want a house that looks like it was designed by so many different people? There appears to be different flooring in every single room as well as different woods and finishes throughout. I personally like wallpaper and special finishes but this is way over the top. The best word I can think of is garish. This house is not an example of good taste or functional design from my perspective!

Mostly weird and cold to me. I can’t imagine living in something like this every day, nor would I want to. Not for me. The deer mural was about the only thing I liked. I don’t think you missed anything by not going. I had rather see your DIY projects and other “real life” homes. I would consider myself unfortunate if I had to pay to see this house.

I loved the laundry room/ mud room combo and the back porch. The rest was way overdone to me.

I liked the dining room. Perplexed by the kitchen island, what is under near the overhanging counter on the stool side? I also liked the staircase area and I think one of the kid’s rooms with a wicker rocker and blue rug!

I agree with many of the others….this is one of my least liked show homes I have seen. Perhaps I “don’t get” high design. I did like the laundry room but didn’t like the flow of the home and the outside façade reminded me of a cat head with those two pointy gable that looked like “ears”. Didn’t care for the design at all! That said, I appreciate that you showed it as I do think it is interesting to see what else is going on in the home design world. Personally I love seeing homes like yours much more. For example your rooms all relate to each other in some way and to me that is welcoming and not so visually distracting as what is in this show home. Just my 2 cents :).

Hi, Debra, I agree to a large extent on show homes and it’s a group of designers so you’re going to get all over the place design. It doens’t all appeal to me either, but I enjoy seeing what designers are doing these days. Some showhouses flow together much more and others do not.

Truly there wasn’t one room in this menagerie that I would want in my home. The closest thing to normal was one of the children’s bedrooms. Over the top ugly.

The only thing I even half way liked about this house was the orange and blue on the patio. Nothing inside was the least bit inviting. It was cold, and sterile and nothing said, “home,” to me. Just my two cents worth……

Not warm and cozy at all. I did like the more subdued blue bedroom. Also, thought the wind chimes in the house was an interesting idea although not as large or as a focal point. Thank you for sharing.
