One of the sweetest bloggers I know is Shirley, with Housepitality Designs.  She is so warm and friendly and you can’t help but feel like you’ve known her forever, she’s that kind of lady.  Her blog tagline is “it’s all about the hospitable home” and I know that is how Shirley lives her life too, welcoming friends and family into her beautiful home.  Like many of us, Shirley is obsessed with decorating, even taking some courses in redesign and starting her own decorating business, after being in the healthcare field for over 20 years, because she just loves decorating that much.  So many of us can relate to that!  Decorating a beautiful home is on the forefront of a lot of our minds and it’s so fun to see how everyone interprets that.

Shirley has a beautiful traditional home in North Carolina and I know you are going to enjoy the tour!

shirley front door

Here’s Shirley, the gracious hostess at the front door.

front porch

What a welcoming front porch!

foyer

Shirley is a bit of a Francophile and has even been to France on shopping trips.  She has some beautiful pieces of furniture collected over time and travels.

living room to foyer

Living room with welcoming colors and patterns.  A lovely room.

living room

living room fireplace

With a large room like this, she has it filled up nicely with such pretty pieces.

living room french doors

A curved sofa reminds me of the new one I just got.  Love the French styled chairs too.

vaulted living room

A soaring vaulted ceiling is part of the architecture.

dining room

Looking into the dining room.  I spy a beautiful hutch filled with pretty dishes.

dining room hutch

dining room centerpiece

A lovely Fall centerpiece graces the table.  Love those chairs with the big nailheads.

kitchen3

Looking into the kitchen.

kitchen

Practical and pretty and spacious.

kitchen2

With a big island too.

sunroom

A sunroom with lots of windows adjoins the kitchen.

guest room

She has guest rooms to spare, so let her know when you’re coming. Smile  So pretty and ready for guests.

guest bath

A guestbath with double sinks and mirrors.

hutch guest bath

This lovely hutch is in one of the guest baths.

guest room craft room

Another guest room holds a bed and crafting area.

2nd guest bath

With another stylish bathroom and decorative mirrors over this sink too.

master bedroom

Check out the spacious master bedroom and that beautifully detailed trey ceiling.

master 2

Another area of the master bedroom.

master bathroom2

The master bathroom is huge and spacious too.

master bath tub

With a clawfoot tub.

bonus room

Upstairs, the bonus room hosts a pool table and plenty of fun, I’m sure.

media room

Media room which I think is probably in the basement..

media room kitchen

Along with a beautiful little kitchenette.  What a fun place to entertain.

laundry room

The laundry room is charming.

outdoors

And the back yard screams Southern charm and serenity.

porch

What a beautiful Southern home that Shirley and her hubby have created.  I know you have enjoyed meeting Shirley and if you don’t know her already, hop over and introduce yourself. She’s a sweet lady!

Yes, my pal Shirley is the sweetest and most gracious hostess. Staying in her home is like staying in a four star resort and I have stayed in plenty.

Shirley is such a warm and gracious blogger, and her home certainly reflects it! Love all those rooms. I think her house would make a wonderful bed and breakfast inn! 🙂 If it has not already been, her master bedroom and bath would be a great feature for a magazine. And I would be in heaven to have a crafting area like she has. Love the curved sofas and that sink in the kitchen! Thank you for featuring her Rhoda.

I have always loved Shirley’s home and style. Such a wonderful person. She sets the bar for bloggers also; she always try to return the comments left on her blog by coming to visit and sometimes that can be rare, LOL. Her home reflects that wonderful soul….adore her and this feature!

What a lovely home! So many beautiful details and very inviting. As a Longaberger Consultant of almost 20 years, it was fun to see so many of our baskets in her home.

What an absolutely gorgeous home! It is appears welcoming from the front door, out the back door, and everywhere else in between! Coming into spring, I am really loving that back porch, but I would feel blessed to sit and enjoy any square inch of that beautiful haven. Thanks for sharing!

Shirley’s home is so beautiful and she is a super lady! She lives very close to me–I’ll bet our houses are less than half an hour from each other. I need to see if we can get together some day. Of course I would want to get together at her house, because it would be such a pleasure to see such gorgeousness in person!! Oh dear–I sound like a stalker! I promise I’m not a stalker, just an admirer. 🙂

Your Feature Fridays are so wonderful, Rhoda. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into them!

Hands down, Shirley is one of my favorite people in the world! Not only is she an astute decorator with an eagle eye for everything fabulous, but she has the sweetest disposition!!! No way you could possibly look into that little face of hers and not smile!

I am a follower of Shirley’s blog, and I am filled with so much inspiration by everything she posts. She did a post on her laundry room this week, and it made me want to get my hips right up from the computer and get downstairs to spruce mine up! Nobody could make a laundry room an exciting place to be like Shirley can!

Thanks for featuring one of the most talented and dedicated home decorators out there! She’s a keeper!
