I first saw Lauren with Little White House blog on Instagram. That seems to be the way I’m spotting new bloggers these days and I loved her farmhouse so much. Â And she lives not far from where I did when I was living in Birmingham. Â Small world!
Farmhouse style seems to be the latest trend these days and so many lean toward this casual and rustic style. Â This is a real farmhouse! Â She and her hubby bought and moved into a 1905 white farmhouse in Columbiana, AL not that long ago and are working to make it their own. Â I love that she researched the history of this old farmhouse and they live not far from where I did when I was living in Alabama, in Shelby County. {Sidenote: Â my divorce happened in that pretty courthouse, so bittersweet memories for me.} Â I went to Columbiana many times and it is fun to read her posts about the town and the farmhouse that they now call home. Â I love seeing young families in older homes like this, enjoying the countryside and beauty this area offers.
So enjoy this tour of Lauren’s farmhouse as it looks now. Â She’s a new blogger and has just started in this blogworld, but I can’t wait to see what else she does in the house. Â They haven’t worked on every room yet, so most of this tour will be exterior.

I can imagine that their farm is a great place for friends and family to gather and celebrate.
They even have a pond to enjoy.

And a pretty pergola and fire pit is just beautiful, with the Adirondack chairs and swings. Â So nice!
Their little boy has plenty of space to roam and explore. Â How cute is he?!

Jim grew up in a beautiful old Missouri farmhouse. When he was in Germany during the 60’s his parents dismantled the old house, leaving only the old stone storm cellar. He has always said he wished he had been able to keep that old house. His grandparents old farmhouse is just around the corner from us. It is no longer in the family. We always say if we were only younger we would love to restore one of these old farmhouses. Lauren’s home is beautiful. I truly enjoyed the tour.
How blessed they are to have this beautiful home and property that goes with it. I hope they will enjoy it for years to come.
Beautiful, and Columbiana is a beautiful little town – and it has a museum of George and Martha Washington furniture and other heirloom from the Washington’s. Worth a visit. Thank you for sharing!

What a gorgeous home, it’s filled with so much character and charm. I have been looking at new houses, in New Zealand they seem to lack so much character and I wish that our builders would take some pointers from looking at gorgeous old homes like this. I love the barn door inside, I am seeing these creep into new builds today which is great as they add architectural interest to a room that might not have much going for it.
Oh how I wish for a house in the country like this but I will be dreaming I think for many years. I am looking at something to retire to later and rent out at the moment and although I want a new house, I am determined to find something with character or have one built with some old charm.
That is a piece of heaven! I too love to see young couples restoring and living in these sweet, old farmhouses. It is also evident by the outside areas that they want to share their blessing with others. You have to love that!
