Feature Friday: At the Picket Fence with Vanessa

Today’s Feature  Friday is Vanessa, who blogs At the Picket Fence with her sweet sister, Heather. I met these two ladies almost 2 years ago at the first Haven, after getting to know them online and it has been such a pleasure watching them grow in blogland.  They are both delightful women and I love that they blog together.  Vanessa is on the West coast in Oregon and Heather just moved to the metro Atlanta area with her family,  so it’s been nice having her in Georgia.

Vanessa’s home has really evolved too since they started blogging and I love what she’s done in her home.  She is traditional in style, but definitely has a lot of fresh ways of incorporating some modern touches as well.  I think you’ll enjoy seeing Vanessa’s beautiful Oregon home.

The exterior is quite lovely, a stucco home that looks to have a Mediterranean influence to me. Very nice curb appeal!

The living room is pretty with a fireplace front and center.  Her neutral sofa and chairs are beautiful.

Looks like a light filled room and I love the mirrored chests on either side of the fireplace.

Moving on to the breakfast room, this space gets lots of light too.

A buffet with lamps and plates around the mirror make this space feel very homey.

The master bedroom is light filled and cozy as well.

Beautiful toile pillows on the bed.

The tiled master bath looks so luxurious.

Vanessa made a cute dollhouse for her daughter out of a bookcase.

And this sweet little vanity is also in her daughter’s room.

Vanessa’s home is so lovely and really reflects her personality:  warm and friendly.  I’m excited to be hanging out with these sisters this weekend in Tybee Island, so it’s fun that I’m highlighting Vanessa’s house today.  We are no doubt having a wonderful time at Tybee Island today!  Enjoy the tour and I hope you’ll stop over and stay hello to Vanessa and Heather, At the Picket Fence!

Am I the only person who noticed that the pillows on the living room sofa changed from one picture to the other – and that the topiary evolved into an orchid? Don’t say that to be negative, just my powers of observation. Still a very serene space. But how does she keep that off-white carpet so clean? 🙂

Hi Becky! You win the observation prize for sure! Some of the photos were taken at different times and things got moved around a bit. LOL! And fortunately, our off-white carpet isn’t in very high traffic areas and cleans up amazingly well so (knock on wood) we haven’t had any problems yet! 🙂

What a lovely home tour, I love to see other bloggers homes (real homes) as opposed to staged homes and I do like Vanessa’s style. I have been wondering about whether to paint my front door black, it looks so smart on Vanessa’s grand looking house. I would love to know where the toile in the bedroom comes from or the brand name and design as I might be able to source it in NZ. I am re-doing my bedroom at the moment and looking for a toile with blue and beige and I think this fabric might be perfect.

Thank you for sharing such a lovely home.

    Lee 🙂
