Back today with another Feature Friday and today is blogger, Julie with Redhead Can Decorate.  Julie an her family live on a lake in Michigan in a beautiful Cape Cod style home.  Julie has done a lot of renovations and updates to her home and I think you’ll enjoy seeing this real life home on the lake.

Julie describes herself as a feisty but shy redhead from NY who moved to the Midwest to pursue her dreams and the love of her life. She loves decorating and DIY and loves to cook for her family (hubby and 2 girls), so check out her blog for more details.

Our house!

I  love the setting of their Cape Cod traditional home on the lake.

Summer-Front-Porch-

Brick homes always get my attention and this one is very pretty, especially with this lush landscaping coming up the walkway.  Those 2 turquoise Adirondack chairs look very welcoming too.

In the backyard, a huge deck is great for entertaining and seeing the views.

Swans-Aug.

With this in the backyard, they must feel like they’re on vacation all the time.  Ahh, swans, can you imagine?

Best Living Room

She’s got a mix of modern and traditional in her home and it’s very welcoming and cozy.

I love this big window.

Best DIY Kitchen Makeover

Her kitchen got a complete overhaul from when they first bought the house.

DIY-Brick-Backsplash

She went with a mix of dark and white cabinets and a real brick backsplash behind the stove.  Love the rustic feel this adds!

A white painted cabinet feels like a piece of furniture.

Wood Planked Ceiling Master Bedroom

Julie has recently added a rustic wood ceiling to the master bedroom.

And the bathroom got some updates too.

A teen daughter’s room.

Ruffled Curtains

And this hand painted “rug” on the floor adds charm in the bathroom.

Even her laundry room is charming.

I hope you enjoyed this Feature Friday and Julie’s home in Michigan.  Stop over and say hello to Julie at Redhead Can Decorate!

What a beautiful home. I love that wall of silver trays…the hunt to collect them must have been so much fun! And I enjoyed seeing the living room in different seasons. Although I’m personally a white kitchen cabinet owner, I thought the kitchen was spectacular with the dark cabinets and different countertops. It looks like a cozy place to spend a cold day. Lots of inspiration in every room. Happy weekend, y’all!!

I know white cabinets are the rage, but I am more a fan of the dark ‘furniture’ wood look. This is a home I could be comfy living in – not afraid to put my feet up. Lots of nice touches. I love both bathrooms.

I love that you said you could put your feet up, Becky! Sometimes I feel I go too formal. I don;t like formal, so I don’t get it. LOL Thank you so much for your kind words!

Love the kitchen with the recessed wall. I also like dining room. Does that say anything about me because my two favorite pictures are areas where there is food?
