Back today with another Feature Friday and today is blogger, Julie with Redhead Can Decorate. Â Julie an her family live on a lake in Michigan in a beautiful Cape Cod style home. Â Julie has done a lot of renovations and updates to her home and I think you’ll enjoy seeing this real life home on the lake.
Julie describes herself as a feisty but shy redhead from NY who moved to the Midwest to pursue her dreams and the love of her life. She loves decorating and DIY and loves to cook for her family (hubby and 2 girls), so check out her blog for more details.
I Â love the setting of their Cape Cod traditional home on the lake.
Brick homes always get my attention and this one is very pretty, especially with this lush landscaping coming up the walkway. Â Those 2 turquoise Adirondack chairs look very welcoming too.
In the backyard, a huge deck is great for entertaining and seeing the views.
With this in the backyard, they must feel like they’re on vacation all the time. Â Ahh, swans, can you imagine?
Inside, Julie has created a plate wall in the foyer.
She’s got a mix of modern and traditional in her home and it’s very welcoming and cozy.
I love this big window.
A view of this area during Christmas.
Her kitchen got a complete overhaul from when they first bought the house.
She went with a mix of dark and white cabinets and a real brick backsplash behind the stove. Â Love the rustic feel this adds!
A white painted cabinet feels like a piece of furniture.
Looking towards the dining area and fireplace. Â I love those dark wood beams in the room.
Julie has recently added a rustic wood ceiling to the master bedroom.
And the bathroom got some updates too.
With this rustic wall of wood over the tub.
A teen daughter’s room.
And this hand painted “rug” on the floor adds charm in the bathroom.
Even her laundry room is charming.
I hope you enjoyed this Feature Friday and Julie’s home in Michigan. Â Stop over and say hello to Julie at Redhead Can Decorate!
What a beautiful home. I love that wall of silver trays…the hunt to collect them must have been so much fun! And I enjoyed seeing the living room in different seasons. Although I’m personally a white kitchen cabinet owner, I thought the kitchen was spectacular with the dark cabinets and different countertops. It looks like a cozy place to spend a cold day. Lots of inspiration in every room. Happy weekend, y’all!!
Thank you, Roxanne! I’m cozy in my slippers! XO
*Super* nice! That kitchen is 100% fab.
My favorite part, JJ! Thank you for your sweet comment!
I know white cabinets are the rage, but I am more a fan of the dark ‘furniture’ wood look. This is a home I could be comfy living in – not afraid to put my feet up. Lots of nice touches. I love both bathrooms.
I love that you said you could put your feet up, Becky! Sometimes I feel I go too formal. I don;t like formal, so I don’t get it. LOL Thank you so much for your kind words!
Very lovely home!
Rhoda, I know you have lots of c wonder clothing, and the store closed. I have been seeing qvc ads for c wonder clothing recently.
HI, Terry, that is good to know. I have enjoyed my C Wonder clothing.
I love how you feature other blogs Rhoda. It is very generous of you. I have had some great recommendations from you- Julie’s is one I already subscribe to. Her home is gorgeous! But keep them coming.
YEAY! So happy to find a subscriber here, Shirley! I’ll be in touch this week! XO

Truly REDHEAD can decorate! Each room shown has great attention to detail and looks like a magazine shot.
Thank you, Debbie! XO
Love that brick behind her stove!
Thank you, Kathy! My husband will love your comment, too!
Love the kitchen with the recessed wall. I also like dining room. Does that say anything about me because my two favorite pictures are areas where there is food?
