I met this sweet gal, Amber, last year at the Becoming conference and she lives in South Carolina and blogs at Restless Arrow. After browsing her home tour and seeing how she and her hubby hunted down their house and waited on it, I wanted to share her story with all of you. I love reading stories about houses that are wanted and cherished by their owners. This 100 year old home needed lots of tender, loving care and this family did just that to bring it back to life and make it their haven.
They have such a sweet story of meeting in kindergarten and now are married, with 2 boys and a baby girl on the way. You have to read how they found this Yellow house that Amber couldn’t get out of her mind.
After several years of waiting, the yellow house was finally theirs and then the real work began. They ended up gutting the entire inside of the house. You’ll have to see the Before and progress pics of all they’ve done, but it’s pretty amazing.
Amber has lots of white walls and furniture, but cozies it up with texture and some color.
Aqua is her color of choice.
Living room with white slipcovered furniture.
The kitchen is the superstar of their renovation. They did this kitchen for around $5K, which is a fantastic remodel. You can read all about the kitchen remodel and see the breakdown for yourself. I thought my kitchen remodel was budget conscious, but this one takes the prize!
Buying stock unpainted cabinets and having everything sprayed white is one way they saved money.
It all turned out so pretty and I happen to love white kitchens.
The open shelving on this wall is pretty and practical. They used a look alike marble laminate which also slashed the budget.
Love that they were able to achieve such a pretty kitchen on a super tight budget.
Dining room details. Amber is really great at scouring thrift stores and shopping 2nd hand finds.

Pretty soon there will be a sweet little girl to add to the two boys and I’m sure that their world will change.

And a playhouse for the boys.
I just love how Amber has taken this home and made it over with love and creative finds. You don’t have to have a ton of money to make a home special and unique. Stop on by Amber’s Restless Arrow and say hello!
Beautiful home and that kitchen looks amazing! I love seeing budget friendly renovations!
Charming! Especially the kitchen re-do. The marble look a like was a fantastic find.
