If you’ve been online in the last few weeks, you’ve probably already seen the Southern Living Idea House in Amelia Island, FL. It’s one of my favorites ever and I love the designs of Heather Chadduck Hillegas, who is the Interior Decorator on this entire house. Her style really speaks to me and I’ve followed her over the years as she’s done so many gorgeous interiors for Southern Living.
So, come along in case you haven’t seen it yet. It’s spectacular!
Here’s a little more about the house:
Community:Â Crane Island
Builder: Riverside Homes
Architect: Historial Concepts
Interior Decorator: Heather Chadduck Interiors & Textiles
Landscape Architect: Hooten Land Design, Inc.
The house is open for tours until December, you can find all the information on tickets here.

The exterior of the house is so gorgeous, from the front porch to the blue door, it’s so Southern and coastal feeling. They call it a white Victorian-style beach house. It’s on Crane Island and it sits on the Intracoastal Waterway. You can read more about the design of the house on Southern Living.
Southern Living uses a lot of lanterns in their homes and they get me every time. I love a good lantern! And I love a home that’s built new to look historical and Southern Living is the best at that.
Inside the front entry. Notice the row of light fixtures all in a row.
The living room really speaks to me with all the blue and cream.
Every inch of the house is so beautiful to look at and Heather nailed it once again.
I love this wallpaper and the blue painted planks in this powder bath.

The master bedroom has so many windows letting in lots of light.
Sitting room in the master.
Master Bath: I love this space. It’s very different than what everyone’s doing these days, but I think it’s pretty. Mark would never go for this wallpaper, but I’m hoping for a bit of wallpaper somewhere in the master bath.

How about that house? It makes my Southern heart melt over the architecture and the gorgeous interior design. Southern Living always knocks it out of the park on their idea homes and this one might be right up there at the top of the list for me of faves. So many ideas and inspiration to be gained from this house. I could move right in! I hope you enjoyed! You can find a lot more information on all the interior paint colors and finishes on those links above.

I saw that swing bed. Looks a lot like the one hubby built for me.

Kim says
Do you think that is another LaBarge coffee table in the living room?
Rhoda says
HI, Kim, I doubt it’s vintage, but I have no idea. The source guide may tell where the coffee table is from.

This is spectacular, Rhoda. I have a cousin who lives by the intercoastal in Florida, and the view is mesmerizing. Now I want to live there, even though there is horrible humidity and the infamous Florida heat! The walls in our great room downstairs are the same color as in this house, but theirs are a little darker than ours. There is so much inspiration for this decor. Thank you for sharing this.

This house just blows me away, I love it all!

I have been studying this article for weeks. We’re adding a 3 season porch and I would love those Marvin bifold doors. When my contractor told me the price I almost fainted—-$10,000. Slightly out of my budget but I’m still using their design as inspiration.

OH. MY. GOODNESS!
That house is beautiful and it oozes everything Southern! I’m a Midwesterner but my Mama was Southern born and raised. I just know some of that some of that “southern style” runs through my veins. 🙂

Barb says
Hi Rhoda, do you know if the master bedroom rug and stair runner are a jute/sea grass type fiber or a wool/synthetic look-a-like?
Thanks, Barb
Rhoda says
HI, Barb, sorry I don’t know any specifics on the furnishings, but you might find more on the website linked.
