Happy Friday, friends! I’ve got a brand new Feature Friday for you today and this is a reader’s home. Terry sent me pics of her house and I wanted to feature her, plus I love her story. You can read about Terry and her home below:
We live in my husband, Tim’s home town of Quincy, Illinois on the Mississippi river. It’s a quaint town of about 45,000 and a nice place to bring up a family. We have an interesting story about how we came to own this home. Our town has an October new builder’s showing of homes. Some are for sale, most are not, they are custom builds. This one was for sale and I fell in love but at the time we could not afford it. It was the closest thing to my dream home I could have ever imagined. Many built-in’s, lots of crown moldings, the feel of an old home but brand new and geo-thermal what my husband desired. Fast-forward five years, we were ready to build our dream home but after talking with builders had sticker shock as to what it was going to cost! So my husband said, Why don’t we go drive by your dream home? The closer we got to the house I saw a for sale by owner sign and sure enough it was in that yard. I went up and knocked on the door. I asked the price and it was the same as five years before! Needless to say, 28 days later after selling our home in one day on my own, we were in this home. It’s been 18 years now. I had spent 10 years redoing every room to my taste because that is what I do. Now we’re are getting ready to sell in a few years and downsize for our future. But it’s been a fun ride. I used to have a blog called Forever Decorating. When the grandkids started coming, I quit the blog but can be found on facebook at Forever Decorating.

I hope you enjoyed this new tour from Terry, you can visit her at her Facebook page for more information. She’s done a lovely job with her home and I know she’s enjoyed living there all these years.
Thank you Rhoda for another beautiful home tour.
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful home! The years of love and care show in every space. I love how Terry has added the things she’s collected to each room. Some great ideas for vignettes and wall arrangements in these pictures. 🙂
Oh what a gorgeous house. Her style is amazing — I love her mix of black/white checks and different prints. She certainly has an eye for design.
If my mother was still alive, we’d be jumping in the car and speeding off for a visit! COVID be darned. Love the touches of personality and vintage collections – things that many homes lack these days. I particularly enjoyed the old family photos on the staircase walls. Thanks for sharing today, Rhoda.
So pretty! The built ins are amazing in this home!!! I love all the antiques, particularly the collection of painted metal trays and that super cute birdcage on the stand!
Beautiful. Love her eye for design!
Love everything in this home! This is a lovely house in general. I maybe a little biased as I too am an Illinois girl…LOL!
Beautiful home. It’s funny; I believe I used to read her blog. The name sounds familiar and some of her furnishings look so familiar.
Enjoyed the post!
Love this home! So many fun details. Terry has put a lot of love into this home. Downsizing will be tough, but I’m sure she’ll make her next home just as warm and beautiful.
Wow! Wow! Wow! I’ll be going through this again as this home is gorgeous. I love the black/white and immediately knew those black/white checked dishes and few other accessories came from McKenzie-Childs! Can’t afford it and yet I’ve gotten creative using black/white check Duct tape in making some less expensive creations! You wouldn’t know it from afar! lol
Thank you but I only have one piece, the colander that is real Mackenzie Childs,
All the rest was painted by me and the plates are Royal Staford from TJMAXX.
How pretty! And just a few miles away from me! Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful home. Close to home for me❤️
Rhoda, I had to think about this but I remember Terry having a blog a few years back!! She’s so talented.
I have been following Terry for years, first on her blog and now on FB. I love everything about her home and gardens. Not only is she a superb decorator but she is also a talented artist and seamstress, which is evident throughout her home. Thank you for showcasing her amazing home.
