This past year was the year of meeting more and more new bloggers, especially those in the Atlanta area, since I moved back here last year. One of those delightful bloggers is Laura, with Top This Top That. I met her at Haven this year and then again at the Southern Blogger’s conference and enjoyed getting to know her. She lives all the way on the other side of Atlanta from where I live and she has a beautiful home that she and her hubby built further out in the country and boy, is it pretty.
From what I’ve read on Laura’s blog, they built the house themselves and did a lot of work in it as well. Avid DIYer’s, I’m so impressed with all the things they have done themselves to make a beautiful home. She has 3 gorgeous little kiddos too and is a busy mom who also takes time to be creative.
Just look at this front porch. Doesn’t it scream Southern?
Inside, the breezeway connects the garage with the house and this is a special spot as well.
Laura’s kitchen is spacious and has plenty of room for her busy family.
Laura claims that her hubby does most of the cooking in this pretty kitchen.
A fireside table and chairs is the perfect spot to relax with the family.
Take a look at those soaring tray ceilings in Laura’s master bedroom. What a gorgeous retreat!
Pottery Barn linens make this room cozy and romantic.
Those soaring ceilings continue into the master bath.
Complete with a clawfoot tub.
The guest room feels like a cozy country cottage room with an iron bed and cushy linens.
Laura even worked on this gameroom herself and what a great space this is.
I imagine she and her family enjoy this space so much.
Her sons have their own Star Wars room, so adorable.
Laura has 2 relaxing spots in the backyard and both are equally stunning. I could sit a spell right here.
Or here! Love these vintage glider and chairs.
If that’s not enough, down the road on their property is a real live guest house. They lived in this house while they were building the big house.
And they completely did all the work in this one themselves, from top to bottom. It’s such a cozy spot!
Complete with a functioning kitchen, what a great spot for guests to hang out while visiting.
Thanks, Laura for letting me feature your beautiful home. It’s evident that a lot of love and hard work went into it and it’s truly a dream home in every sense of the phrase. Stop by and say hello to Laura, another Georgia girl, I know she’d enjoy meeting you all as well.

This looks like a home you’d see in Southern Living mag! I live a few hours north, in Upstate SC, so I love when people embrace the southern culture and incorporate it into their homes!

Such beautiful photos of a beautiful home. Rhoda: I do want to take issue with something (a friend and I discussed the topic just this week). In preparing to store my front porch chairs, etc.. I am appalled at the dirt, mildew, dust, etc. that collects on my outdoors stuff. I hope that people who use fabrics, fancy pillows, really nice stuff – have someone to do the constant upkeep required to keep all this pretty and clean enough to sit on. When we sit outside, I always have to do preparatory wiping down of everything. Mowing the lawn, my neighbors mowing, using the leaf blower, etc.. obviously stirs up the outside dirt that in turn lands on my outside chairs, etc.. I have enough to clean indoors! 🙂

Hi Rhoda!!
What a beautiful home. I have always loved big front porches to sit out on beautiful evenings with a glass of wine. In every room you can see all the hard work and planning that went into it.
I love the game room!! A great place for the family or friends to hang out in. I love their 4 poster bed and that master bathroom is so inviting.
Have a great weekend Rhoda!!
