This week’s Feature Friday is a fun one for me. Â Vickie, who lives with her family in the Atlanta area and I have been friends since her first born was 1 year old. Â He’s about to turn 30. Â With life changes and all that goes with it for both of us, we somehow lost touch and hadn’t seen each other for at least 16 years, I think. Â Where does time go? Â She saw on Facebook that I was in Destin and told me that we were staying less than 10 minutes from her beach house. I knew she had a beach house and was so happy to get to visit and catch up with her and her hubby and also take pics of the beach house. Â She’s letting me share it today, so enjoy! Â It’s about 1 block off the beach in Destin.
Vickie loves decorating and we have always had that in common. And she is really great at finding bargains and fixing them up, so this house was done on a major budget, with shopping at thrift stores, yardsales, and other sources. Â Vickie painted lots of things to make them over for this house and most everything is 2nd hand.
The color throughout the house is Sherwin Williams Sea Salt, which I’m very familiar with since I used a color on this strip in my den. Â Beautiful beachy color!
I won’t chime in all the way through, but enjoy the tour of this coastal home in Destin. Â Vickie is not afraid of color and has infused this home with lots of fun and color throughout. Â They have 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren and I know this home is loved and used a lot by their family.
Notice the middle of the table. Â Vickie found this used table and loved the gears inside where the extra leaf would sit, so she had a piece of acrylic made for the middle of the table so that it would show.
See how clever that is!
Master bedroom.
Yardsale oil painting for $2.  She’s a girl after my own thrifty loving heart!
Loving the moldings and doors in their beach house. Â Lots of nice details! Â I hope you enjoyed the tour of Vickie’s beach house as much as I did. It was so fun to catch up again and I told her we definitely don’t need to wait so long next time.
The winner of The Bee Cottage book has been posted and the winner emailed. Â Congrats, Dana!Â
I love the beach decor! Will you ask her the brand/model of the cream 3 cushion sofa?
Fun and pretty!!
From the Spanish style outside (which I love) you would never guess the inside is so fun, colorful and beachy. I love what she did with the table leaf. It looks cool and industrial to see the leaves. She did a great job with her decor. It looks like a fun and happy place! Thanks for another great tour Rhoda. I look forward to Feature Friday every week.
Like the decorating details. Would have liked a selfie of the two of you! I reconnected with my childhood/early adulthood best friend . We have the best time . We are both remarried. She lives on the water with beautiful views of Horn Harbor in New Point, Va. And I live in Yorktown, Va about 1 1/2 hrs from each other. Have a great day! I wanted to hear about your open house. Did you post about it?
Lorraine, it’s coming soon!
Of course there will be selfies! Isn’t there always?
I love your home. I love how you incorporated red into almost every room. It is beach, comfortable, stylish- I just love it..
How fun! Looks like a vacation spot for sure. 🙂
I adore this home! All of the details are so fun and perfect for a beach home. I dream of one day living near a beach… Thanks for sharing this wonderful sneak-peak of your friend’s beach paradise! 🙂
Thank you for sharing your friend’s beach house… love all the detail and colors, and all the little surprise, fun elements from exposed table gears and driftwood sculptures hung on shutters, to the idea of framing groups of small pictures and using a sign with hooks over a window to drape a fishnet. Lots of creativity and inspiration!
I agree with Carmen! Also, I think the way that Vicki has painted and repurposed things makes her beach house look much more personal, unique, and “homey” than other pretty (but cookie-cutter) beach houses I have seen.
Love your beach decor and decorating style. So nice and comfy looking.
Why do people take pics with the commode seat up?
