It’s that time of year again. Christmas time is here and as always, I’m decking the halls at our house. We love sparkle and cheer and so it starts on the front porch, where I’ve added things I’ve collected through the years to welcome guests to our home for the holidays. Come on in and we’ll look at the foyer and dining room.

It all starts at the front door with some new garland I found on Amazon that I now love. There is a new kind of garland out called real touch Norfolk pine and I scouted Amazon for a good one and I’m so happy with this one. It drapes like the real thing.
I am using garland that I’ve had for about 10 years on the railings, but next year I’m changing out all my garland to this Norfolk pine draping type of garland. I bought more during the Black Friday sales.
From the rug to the front door, it all says welcome to our Christmas home. Lynch Creek Farms was kind enough to send me a real wreath again this year and they are also going to give away this same wreath to one of my readers. I’ll be doing a giveaway on Instagram next week, so look for that soon.
This one is called Country Christmas and it’s so pretty with the plaid bow and red berries. I added some fresh cut magnolia leaves and love the impact they make.
Mark’s childhood sled has been with him a long time and it sure makes a fun prop on the porch, along with a pair of ice skates.
I just love the garland so much and you can find it here on Amazon. I use red and metallic ornaments on the garland, with an overall traditional red and green look out here.
I’ve had this tree for several years from Lowes and it’s fun to decorate it for the porch in metallic ornaments.
Welcome, come on in!
It makes me so happy to get the house all decorated for the Christmas season and then I get to enjoy the whole month.
Inside the front door on the stair railing is more garland I’ve had for years. I bought this plaid ribbon last year and changed out the bow this year, adding real magnolia to the mix. I love adding real greenery in for a festive look. Here’s a similar set of bells on Amazon.
These glass ornaments have been with me for years and I love hanging them from the railings.
The foyer is a simple mix of metallics in silver and gold.
My tried and true Christmas decorations are nice to bring out each year.
I love the simple look of metallics and mercury glass.
The reason for the season, O Come Let Us Adore Him. That pretty set of metallic votives are still available at Pottery Barn and are on sale again this year.
I thrifted these brass deer at different times and places and grabbed the larger deer with candle holders at an antique shop a couple years ago. This is the set of LED votives with remote that I use in all my candle holders including the reindeer antlers.
Moving on to the dining room, I love a traditional plaid and kept it going in here as well. When I find something I love, I tend to stick with it.
These faux cypress trees I’ve had for a long time and decided to pull them out this year, added to blue and white containers.
Plaid placements, gold chargers and flatware and these red and white Spode plates I’ve had for a very long time. These little metal deer votive holders are still available too.
Vintage solid glass ornaments look at home on the gold platter. I added twinkle copper lights along the green garland in the middle of the table, so it all looks so pretty at night.
This gold flatware is still available at Walmart and I love to use it at Christmas.
I just love a festive table so much.
I’ve loved these Couture lamps for as long as I’ve had them on the sideboard. They are still available online (with white shades), but if you didn’t hear this story, I found them at Homegoods for $50 each.
I adore nutcrackers too.
My sister got me this new chinoiserie Christmas tree in blue and white this year (that I asked for, of course) and it’s so cute on the bar cart. For the blue and white lovers that you know!
That’s the tour this year for our front door, foyer and dining room! Thank you for stopping by and I hope you all enjoy this beautiful Christmas season. If you missed Part 2, be sure and catch it here on this link. We love a festive home for the holidays!

Rhoda, thanks for the lovely tour of your beautiful home! Once again, you have done a fabulous job of adding all your special Christmas items. Your dining room table is so pretty. I really like your new Chinoiserie Christmas tree, too. Such a nice gift from your sister! I enjoyed seeing all the bright colors — so cheery! I really missed seeing your precious Daisy in the pictures! Hope you and Mark have a blessed week and enjoy your lovely home with all the Christmas touches!
Rhoda says
Thank you, Mary-Ann, I’ll have to get Daisy to pose in some of my next pics. I’ll share the tree next time, it’s so pretty!

I think this is my favorite! I love it ALL! Merry Christmas to you and Mark!

That’s the blue & white tree I was asking you about last week. I love it! I wanted to ask you if you remember where you bought the sign over your foyer table. I would love to find one somewhere. Your home is beautiful!
Rhoda says
HI, Sue, ok the blue and white ceramic tree, I was picturing a big tree of blue and white. I did link the ceramic one. The sign over my foyer table, I got years ago from a local artist here in my area. She has since gone out of the sign business.

Rhoda: I am one of your biggest fans, and I have a question. The sign over your foyer table later appears over your fireplace mantle. Do you have two or did you use the same one to style photos for another post? I also noted that one of the nutcrackers on the dining table (wearing a chef hat) appeared in your keeping room photos. 🙂

HI, Becky, if you’ll notice when we do Style Showcase and Home Style Saturday, those are all older posts, so yes I do change things around from year to year. You are seeing different year’s Christmas decor. I do have dates on my posts so you can see what year they were done originally when I reshare them.
