With spring on most of our minds, I can’t help but think of flowers and beautiful arrangements this time of year.  Incorporating fresh flowers in decor is something that I do more often than I used to, even if it’s just grocery store flowers.

Southern Lady magazine is always fun to browse and they never disappoint when they publish books. I was recently sent Flowers with Southern Lady to browse, which gives inspiration and how-to’s for year-round entertaining.  This book is chock full of beautiful floral arrangements and lots of tips on how to achieve some of these looks at home.

Whether you have a wedding on the horizon or just want to hone your flower arranging skills for those upcoming parties and events at your own home, Flowers is a wonderful source and a beautifully illustrated coffee table book.

And I have 2 copies to give away too for my readers!

I love fresh flowers for my centerpieces all year long. The two special occasions coming up where I like to use fresh flowers for are Memorial Day and Fourth of July. I have a pretty red, white and blue patriotic pitcher I use as a vase and centerpiece for both holidays so I am always looking for ideas for flower arrangements to fill it with.

I can’t remember a time when there my mother and grandmother didn’t have some sort of flower arrangement on their dining tables, even if it was a simple crock of marigolds or petunias. Living on a farm, there was always some place to put in a few seeds or cuttings to provide cutting flowers. To this day, arranging flowers is one of the ways I return calm to my soul. I am sure that it is in the Southern Woman’s DNA.

I’m new to your blog, having discovered it only since Christmas, but it’s become an invaluable source of inspiration and information. Your ideas for decorating are great, and the posting about using flowers is no exception. Love the idea of the flowers under the upside down wine glasses with votives on top! It’s just thing to spruce up my brand new screened in back porch.

I forgot the special occasion because it seems to me every day is a reason to celebrate. However, besides being a part of the flower arranging team at my church, we do have a very special autumn farm wedding coming up in our family.

I am working on a tea for my sister’s 60th birthday and this would help me with the table arrangements. Would love to win one of these books!
