Foyer Christmas Magic

Foyer tables are the perfect place to decorate for the seasons and Christmas is my favorite time of the year to adorn this spot with sparkle and cheer. I found a few things on clearance after Christmas last year and it was a lot of fun discovering them again. The Joyful Tidings glittered letters were found, I think at Kohls. And this year I decided to continue with the limey green with white and a little red thrown in the mix too on the foyer table. Those large sparkly red and green balls were clearance finds last year too. I sprayed a few of my pinecones white and they mix right in too. Some old berry garland that I’ve had a long time from a yardsale adds a lot of pop. I love to highlight a few special ornaments here and there and you can see a little mirrored treasure chest in the birdbath. This is the same white iron birdbath that I scored this summer at a yardsale.

And I decided since I wanted to use my lime green small acorn ornaments here, I’d just make myself a white tree. Picked up a few old limbs outside and painted them white. I anchored them in the urn with seashells. Sticks can have a whole new look with a coat of white paint!

A few special ornaments are grouped here and I love to use fresh greens snipped and added to bowls and baubles. You know that most Christmas tree lots will give you all the extra branches that they’ve lopped off, right? I just go and load up my trunk and have plenty for the mantel and around the house. They do smell good, but not quite as strong as a real tree. I have a fake tree, but the real greens help a little. Just snip and tuck!

Found those green glittered hummingbirds last year too from Homegoods.

The new hurricane lantern (from Linden Street) takes center stage on the foyer table this year. Have you seen these cool battery operated candles? I started seeing them a couple of years ago and finally got myself a set of 3. They are a little pricey, but I used coupons from Michaels for 40 or 50% off and that helps a lot. I love these things! They flicker just like the real thing and I love that this hurricane is big enough to hold 3 of them. Add a little fake snow and some pretty balls and that’s all you need.

Two more special ornaments that have been with me for years are hanging on the tree. Love this pretty little fairy.

And flying Santa is perfect for the white tree. I move them around from year to year.

A white iron urn (from a yardsale of course) holds some lime green reindeer moss and my little white bird from the diningroom shelf. It’s always fun to move things around the house and use ordinary things at Christmas to make them extraordinarily beautiful for the season. One little thing I picked up from Mary Carol Garrity’s Christmas book is that any ornaments that you lay around in a bowl or on a table, tie a little bit of ribbon to it to give it an extra special look.

I tried out my little video on my camera again to give you an up close look at the foyer table, so check it out! If you like it, I’ll have to do more videos. I can only do about 35 seconds at a time since that’s all my memory card will hold. Merry Christmas from our house to yours. Hope you enjoyed more of the tour this Christmas. There’s still more to come!

    Hi Rhoda,
Your decorating is beautiful! I love the red and green polka dot ornament. I did a lot of apple green with red this year and I love that combination. Your hurricane is awesome! As usual, everything is AMAZING!

I absolutely love the green acorns, and the adorable tree. Your table is gorgeous! I still have my tree in 3 sections and can’t seem to get it–or myself–together. lol

I do so admire y’all who have a talent for putting things together to create lovely vignettes! My efforts always look like clutter, lol!

Your birthday date sounded fabulous! What a concert! All the artists you saw are among my all-time favourites. And Michael English! I, too, have been following him for years. (And I thought he was treated most unfairly during his ‘fall’, especially since two female artists went through similar situations and nobody batted an eye.) He does have the most beautiful voice, doesn’t he? I’m so glad he did’t quit altogether.

    Have a blessed day.

Such gorgeous pictures of your entry. The video was fun and gave an even more personal touch to your home tour! It’s hard to say, but one of my favorites is your little sweet fairy. Don’t you just love reindeer moss? Love the color and the texture and yes, maybe even the smell!
