You all know by now that I dearly love to drive by beautiful  houses and take pics to share. I’ve been doing that a long time on my blog, from beach cottages, to historic homes in other towns and in Atlanta.  It’s in my blood, being appreciative of gorgeous historic homes and I can’t help but gawk when I’m out of town in a new place at the amazing homes that are out there.
Franklin, TN is one of those spots that has captured my heart. Â When I visited there for the first time just a couple of years ago, I could totally see why so many people are enamored with Franklin and want to live there. The rolling hills and beautiful farms in the countryside of Franklin are just gorgeous and it takes me back to the early days of living in Atlanta when Cobb County used to have that feel. Â It’s long gone from my town, but Franklin still has that country charm and ambience and I could totally live there. Â I doubt it will ever happen, since I want to stay near my family, but it’s a beautiful area of Tennessee. Â I’ve heard people are moving there in droves and it’s driving up the price of real estate. Â I can see why!
Take a look at these beautiful homes spotted just off the historic Main Street of Franklin, TN. I think most of them are older homes, but a few may be built to look old.
A historic cemetery and rock wall in the neighborhood.
This was one of my favorites, with that wrap around front porch.
Don’t you just love a white picket fence?
Be still my heart!
So quaint and charming.
Weren’t those so beautiful? Â Sigh….it’s hard to decide which style I love the most, there are so many pretty ones. Â That’s what I love about the older historic neighborhoods. Â Nothing is cookie cutter!
Which one is your favorite??Â
In my younger years, I thought much about living in a historical or older home. Now that I’ve reached a “certain age” those thoughts will have to be put away, but like you I can still look and admire. I am drawn to the arts and craft styling but truly appreciate any of the larger Victorian style houses with the wide porches just perfect for a swing. ~Sigh~ Have you ever been to the Eufala (Alabama) Spring home tour. It is quite beautiful, too.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures! I love them all! Historical houses have so much charm.
I wish you a very nice day,
Claire
I love old homes, the architecture, the big wrap around porches, its breathtaking. Lucky to live in the South were those amazing homes can be found in so many towns. Thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures.
Beautiful homes!! I couldn’t pick a favorite either. Franklin, TN and Charlotte, NC is on my list of places to visit this year. Thanks for sharing some wonderful pictures of the places you travel too.
Each house was more charming than the next. Since I was wee baby, I always wanted a house with a turret! I am definitely adding Franklin to my “visit” list.
Such beautiful homes.. I have been looking for several years for an older home to renovate, they are hard to find in small towns, but you sure did a great job of finding beautiful homes in this area. I especially love the painted brick cottage homes in this post.
Rhoda, you are living a dream life and I am so happy for you.
Thank you, Jean! My life is pretty wonderful and I’m so happy and content. And blessed!!
My sweet town! You captured the homes so well. I just wish it had been later in the spring when things were greener and more leafed out. Glad you loved it—–we do too!!!!
I lived there for about 7 years and lived just down the street from many of these you have pictured. I remember a certain contractor that focused on historic finishing and it was so fun to see the transformation for the homes he worked on in that area.
Thank you for sharing with us. I love Franklin, TN
Beautiful tour of homes!
I can’t pick a favorite either, they are all beautiful in their own ways! Would love to peek inside!
I love love love Franklin and have for a good many years now. The homes are beautiful and the countryside out side of town is wonderful. We were there for just the day last summer and will probably be there this summer for a day or so–when we are “up that way” it just seems to draw us there every time!!
They’re all so beautiful – but I do have a favourite. The brown brick with the lead-paned arched window in the centre second storey. So pretty. Thank you for sharing all these gorgeous places. I’ve never been to Franklin, but would now love to visit!
I can’t pick a favorite! I like them all.
Just beautiful Rhoda! I think my favorite is that green one with the curved porch on front and to the left.
I agree with someone who said it’s hard to pick a favorite…but..the small gray Queen Anne with all the cream colored fretwork and metal roof just grabbed my attention. It was just a simple color scheme, but so effective and pretty. It just looked like home !
