Hi, friends! Can you believe it’s the first day of the new year 2023? I can hardly believe another year is upon us, it sure sneaks up fast doesn’t it? When I look at the number of years now, it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, how could we already be this far into the 21st century.
Anyway, I didn’t get a chance to share our little town during December this year, so before we move on from the holidays, here’s a look at our little town of Acworth and how festive she looks at this time of year. We love it here and love that the city decorates and adds Christmas cheer all around the town. It sure makes for a fun holiday season as we ride through and participate in events during this time of year.
We didn’t do much last night for New Years, except go to one of our favorites restaurants, Fish Thyme, here in Acworth with some friends. We go early and then head home for the evening.
This pedestrian bridge was built in the last 5 years since we moved here and it’s a beacon as you are driving through town. It’s at the center of our historic district and looks pretty decorated for the holidays.
Driving down Main Street, you can see famed Henry’s cajun restaurant on the right. It’s always packed and people come from all over to eat here. We love it too!
Another look at the bridge at dusk, so pretty!
I love the addition of wreaths all over the history center built to look like an old train depot.
The Acworth train welcomes people into town.
There are 3 big trees that go up around town and this one is right across from Dogwood Forest, where mom and dad live. It’s always fun to see this light up and mark the start of the Christmas season.
Another look at the pedestrian bridge in the daytime, love the wreaths.
And a nighttime view from the other direction, you can see the lighted snowflakes. It has such a charming old town feel.
From the other direction, it really comes alive at night.
Trees lit up on the parkside of town, across from Logan Farm park, a favorite place to walk in town.
This tree is in Logan Farm park.
Also on that side, neon holiday lights are lit on the light poles, such a nostalgic look and feel.
And this tree is back there too, nestled in between two historic buildings. We sure do love our little town of Acworth and the community of people who live here. It’s become our new home and we adore it.
It’s not the holidays without getting out to a few light shows. This one in Kennesaw, I’ve shared before, but it’s on Ben King Road and called Lights of Joy. It’s a gorgeous and stunning display of lights, bigger than anything I’ve seen from one home owner before.
It was so cold last week during Christmas, but we made it there before the temps dropped into the teens.
It’s always worth a walk to see this gorgeous display of lights. Magical and just makes it feel like Christmas! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and for each of you, I wish you a Happy New Year. We will see what the new year 2023 brings for all of us!
