Healthy Snacking with NatureBox

{Giveaway is Closed}

The winners are:  Lori Hibbard and Diane Taylor.  Congrats, ladies!

Is there really such a thing as healthy snacking?  These days, there are lots more opportunities to choose well in what we eat and snack on, that’s for sure.  Back when I was a youngster, my favorite snack was a Dr. Pepper and BBQ potato chips.  Boy, could I chow down on that delicacy.  My palette has improved a lot since then and now I no longer buy those 12 packs of Dr. Pepper and keep them in my house (wahh, I miss this a little bit!).  But, these days I’m really trying to be much more intentional about what goes into my body.  Getting older will do that to you!

My 15 year old self loved the junk food and I could get away with it for a long time.  But now, I try to do better. When we know better, we do better, don’t we?  And we’ve all read too much about the effects of food and health benefits to the body to know that it’s true.  We are what we eat is a true statement.

I do love tasty food and food that tastes good and is healthy for you is a win-win in my book.  I was introduced to an online shopping site called NatureBox and thought the concept sounded interesting and like something that many folks would like to know about.  I can see their concept being a really great thing for moms with kids in school.  Packing a healthier lunch with these tasty treats.  It’s a  monthly subscription service for snacks and you can choose what you want in each box!

Naturebox

It’s easy to get started with their 3 steps:

  1. Get Started – Join their site, and start getting healthy snacks delivered to your home starting at $19.95 a month, depending on which size you sign up for  (your first box is 50% off) .  This will be a mix of 5 different healthy snacks.
  2. Discover – Every month, you’ll receive 5 more healthy choice snacks that you can either choose yourself or be surprised.
  3. Be Delighted – They are sure you will love your healthy snack choices, but if not, there’s a 100% moneyback guarantee.

You can choose from 3 sizes at 3 different price points:

Deluxe Snacker (5 bags for $19.95

Happy Snacker (10 bags for $29.95 or

Smart Snacker (20 bags for $49.95)

Each bag is full size and has 3 to 5 servings inside.  Monthly shipping is always free in the continental U.S.

Snacks that are nutritionist approved, made from wholesome ingredients, and minimally processed, if at all looks like a good choice to me.  I  like the fact that the company was co-founded by someone who was obese as a child and now wants to help families get on track with their eating habits, starting with one of the hardest to control….snacks.

When I read the above about NatureBox snacks, I knew they are onto a good thing!

I was sent 6 snacks to try out at home and I can truly say that every one of them is delicious.  I wouldn’t mind snacking on these good for you and tasty snacks at all!  My box included, Dark Cocoa Almonds, Garden Tomato Crunchies, Lemon Pucker Pistachios, Southern BBQ Sunflower Kernels, Pistachio Power Clusters, and Mexicana Mango.

I opened all the bags and tried each thing.  They are all delish!  Then I took them over to a couple of girlfriends’ house where we were watching TV and snacking.  They pronounced everything tasty….Oh my gosh, this is SO good!  The Dark Cocoa Almonds were gone in a flash!

Left to right:  Power Pistachio clusters, Dark Cocoa Almonds, and the Mexicana Mango (one of my personal faves, such a great flavor!!) Everything I tasted was delicious and I’m not just saying that.

naturebox2

Flavor packed Garden Tomato Crunchies, Lemon Pucker Pistachios, and Southern BBQ sunflower seeds.  All of these were savory and tasty.

The NatureBox blog also shares some great tips on packing good for you snack foods for kids and adults.  If you’re taking your lunch, you can always use more ideas for packing a healthy and delicious lunch fare that doesn’t get boring.  I remember those days of taking my lunch to work!

NatureBox also gives back to the community and that’s a great thing about them too. NatureBox works with WhyHunger to solve the problems of hunger and poverty, while working to make more nutritious food available to everyone. Aside from making donations to WhyHunger, they also donate their snacks directly to WhyHunger partners, including community-based organizations, emergency food providers and summer meal programs for low-income children.

And now, the fun part for YOU, there’s a giveaway!

Giveaway:  TWO winners will each win a free 6-month subscription to NatureBox (The Deluxe Snacker subscription).

All you need to do is click over to NatureBox and browse the snacks they have to offer, and then comment here what snack you’d really like to try!  I’ll choose 2 winners at the end of the giveaway.  (Open to U.S. readers only.  Must have a U.S. shipping address).

If you’d like to try out the Naturebox services, for a 50% discount promotional code, go to NatureBox and put in the code:  SOUTHERN

Discount: 50% off first box of any size (only $9.95!). (valid only on 1st month’s box. new customers only) using code SOUTHERN

Wow! This information is an answer to prayer! I have an autistic son with a LOT of food issues and finding a source for healthy snacks is always a blessing. Not to mention, that I’m always looking for ways to provide healthier options for the rest of us! Lots of good choices here for everyone. The Praline Crunch looks yummy, and any of the figgy bars would make great take-alongs. Likewise, the Antioxidant Boost looks like a great combo. Doesn’t look like you could really go wrong with any of these choices! kelly

I have been looking at their site for a few months now and their FB page. Glad to finally know of someone who has tried them. They all sound good but I would probably try something gluten free and spicy: chili lime pistachios and citrus chiplote chickpeas.

My 17 year old son is a baseball player year round – I would LOVE to try the BBQ sunflower kernels! Would be SO much less messy than the BBQ sunflower seed hulls I find in my car, in my garage, in the laundry….! And the chocolate almonds would be yummy brain food!!!
