Happy Saturday friends! I can’t let this week go by without mentioning the horrific shooting death of Charlie Kirk earlier this week. I don’t always talk about events in our country, but this one hit me to my core. Whether you liked him or not (and I did), violence is never the answer. I pray for our country. Today on Home Style Saturday, we have a fall dining room with block print tablescape, more dining room ideas, a simple and cozy fall home tour, cozy front porch ideas, and making a wreath out of faux stems. Enjoy!

Good Morning. I am still reeling from the assassination of Charlie Kirk. What a fine Christian young man he was. I enjoyed watching his debates with young people. He never lost respect and kindness for those who did not believe as he did. His convictions have strengthened my faith. It is so hard to accept what has happened. I too pray for our country.
It is not yet fall weather here in Florida but this week has brought cooler morning temps and nice breezes. Fall weather will be welcomed. I know I will enjoy your blog this morning — I always do! Thank you.
He was truly a beautiful person. I feel for his family. His wife Erika moved me to tears with her speech last evening.
Me too, it was so moving.
I had not heard of Charlie Kirk before. I really hope his death brings people together, not apart. Nancy Mace immediately accused democrats, but from what we have heard, it was a young man who thought Charlie wasn’t conservative enough.
We all need to come together. I am a Democrat and a Christian. I am not the enemy.
Hi, Janet, I appreciate your comment. There’s so much animosity from the left. Charlie was a peaceful God fearing man, but he’s being portrayed otherwise. I pray that good will come from this and I know it will. God will do that!
Hi, Janet, from what I’m hearing, the shooter was a radical leftist who hated Charlie for what he stood for. Time will tell what was really in his mind.
Charlie’s assasination shook me badly as well. I loved watching him debate young people, armed with facts, kindness, and faith.
Yes, he is such a loss, but we will never forget him.
I’m sorry for his death, too. However, I found him to be racist and homophobic and filled with hateful speech. Not sure how that makes him a “fine Christian.”
I doubt that this opinion will be shared on this site, but there usually are at least two sides to everything.
Facts don’t care about your feelings. To say those things about him shows that you know nothing about him. Do better.
Have you ever considered that your remarks about Charlie Kirk are hate speech? As you say, there are two sides to everything and I consider your remarks to be vile.
Molly, I’ll leave your comment up, but I have to disagree with you. Charlie was plain spoken and didn’t mince words, but I believe his heart was in the right place and he lived from a Biblical point of view, which is antithesis of our world view. He was mightily influencing the younger generation into greatness. I’ve seen videos from gay people who said he was a wonderful man and never made them feel less than, so perhaps look further. Same with Black people, I’ve seen many who are saying he was definitely not racist. So broaden your perspective and perhaps you’ll see him for who he was.
I have followed you for a long, long time but seldom comment. Thank you for honoring Charlie Kirk. What a loss for our country and what a black day when you are shot for your beliefs.
On another note, I love your home and have followed you from before you were rehabbing your other home with your dad’s help. Your style has always been warm and welcoming and I am so glad you get to share your life with a wonderful partner.
Blessings- Diana
Thank you so much, Diana!
It’s a sad time indeed when folks in America are assassinated for their beliefs. It’s very difficult to have a civil conversation with those that disagree with you. My heart goes out to Charlie Kirk and his beautiful family. Pray for America.
Yes I totally agree.
Thank you Rhoda for praying for our country and standing with Charlie Kirk who spoke truth which is rare today.
Interesting that those who sling words like hate and homophobic around are not willing to take a breath and go back to the source – God’s Word that declares all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. Jesus spoke truth and it upset people (religious folk too) then and now.
God’s Word is the ultimate guide, they are the facts and Charlie Kirk boldly proclaimed those truths.
Biblical love is built on truth. we don’t get to pick and choose which ones we like, as God sets the standards, it is Him Who we will all stand before one day.
Lovely fall posts…
God does set the standard and I will not apologize for eulogizing Charlie Kirk. He was a good man!
Thank you for mentioning Charlie Kirk. He was a blessing to our country. I too, am praying for the Kirk family and our country.
Rhoda, thank you for honoring Charlie Kirk. He tried to bring sides together and did it well. He reminded me of Old Testament prophets that God sent out there to “tell it like it is” and were disliked by many. He tried to open the eyes of those who disagreed with him. If you are seeing him as a racist, you may be getting your info from liberal sources. I hope you will find better places to get your news. So many sad and violent stories in the news right now. May God help us find our way to more peaceful times.
Yes Diane, that is so true. I see Charlie as a wonderful Christian family man who was doing what he felt God would have him do. He will be missed.
Been a bit since I sent a note. I loved Charlie Kirk. Loved his testimony. It’s hard to believe this is being celebrated, but it is. I can’t imagine the weight his crown will be for how he died for his faith I love your fall at your home , not over done. I’ve loved all your homes especially the one I came to see. I loved everything you did over there.
Thank you, Carole, I totally agree on Charlie, he will be missed by all of us.
