Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a set formula that fills in all the blanks of that statement.
How to have a lovely life?
There is not one answer for that, but we can all have a lovely life with intention and meaning if we make up our minds we are going to do just that. Today I’m sharing a few ways that we can do that. Don’t we all want a lovely life? I know I do.
My home is definitely my happy place and I’m sure you feel the same about yours. We come home after a busy day out and when we walk in our door, our homes welcome us with open arms. Do we love what we see in our homes?
Sometimes there’s too much clutter and chaos and that can get in the way of having a lovely life and surroundings, but we can do a lot to conquer that. It’s also easy to get caught up in the comparison trap when so much is shared on social medial these days. We see inside thousands of homes and it’s easy to let envy get in the way of enjoying our own lives and homes to the fullest. No one’s life is picture perfect, I can assure you. I try very hard to live a life of gratefulness and to be thankful and content for all the blessings God has given me. I have so much to be thankful for and I know you do too!
We go way back, my longtime friend, Melissa Michaels, of the blog The Inspired Room. We both started blogging the same year, 2007, and I’ve watched her grow and share simple contentment in life from her homes in the Pacific NW. She’s also written a host of books about homemaking and living a simple and beautiful life. I admire her writing style, she makes you feel warm and comfortable when you read her books. They speak to the heart and soul of a woman and she does an excellent job of conveying the topics of contentment and joy in the books she writes. Melissa has a brand new book coming out and she sent me a preview copy of A Lovely Life: Savoring Simple Joys in Every Season and I’m happy to share it with you today.
What is A Lovely Life about?
A Lovely Life is filled with inspiration and practical ideas to savor the simple joys around you and in your home. It offers gentle encouragement throughout to focus on being intentional with your days, ideas, tasks, and mindsets as you seek, create and savor the beauty found in every season.
A Lovely Life is about creating the kind of atmosphere at home you’ve always dreamed about, one day, one season at a time. You’ll feel inspired to elevate even the most ordinary moments at home and discover tangible ways to make every day a better one….all year long. The book has beautiful photos throughout of Melissa’s homes and homes she has visited, all inspiring to look at.
I’ve enjoyed watching Melissa move from house to house during our many blogging years and in each one, she makes them her own and puts her stamp on the house. She has a distinct style and it’s lovely, simple, coastal and cozy. We all want to add certain feelings to our own homes and Melissa encourages you in how to do that.
A Lovely Life will show you ways you can:
- Practice simple home making and soul tending rhythms and rituals
- Cultivate more peace, contentment, and joy in your surroundings throughout the year
- Embrace simplicity in your life and home in every season
- Nurture your well-being through the beauty you create or discover around you
- Seek renewal in spring, refreshment in summer, reconnection in autumn, and rest in winter
I’m so happy to help Melissa launch her new book, A Lovely Life. We all want a lovely life, don’t we? I would encourage you to give Melissa’s new book a read. I’ve read through Spring and Summer already and can’t wait to finish the other 2 seasons. Every season during of year can be beautiful and fill us with contentment and joy as we move day to day through our lives with our families. Life gets so rushed, but it’s nice to slow down and savor each moment and day as it unfolds before us, changing with each season.

It’s good to be reminded to be intentional. Otherwise, we just drift along in life without purpose or meaning.

As I aged, I learned to be thankful for what I had instead of wishing and wanting more. I don’t mean material things – I mean friends, family, good times, health – all the wonderful feelings we are blessed to have. This new book sounds like a perfect book to foster a positive approach to all those feelings.
