I think I’ll paint something

Sometimes you have perfectly good accessories that are still pretty, they just don’t work with a new scheme or plan. So, what do you do?? Why, you paint them of course. I know most of you know this already, but the power of paint is so alluring. With just a little time and effort, those old accessories get a whole new look, so why throw them out. These are all yardsale mirrors that I’ve had for a long time…gold was fine.
But, creamy white is better for the new room. Can you guess which one is plastic? I didn’t even know it until I started painting it. These aren’t all finished yet, I’ll do a little antiquing on them before they make their debut.
Scrollies and bunnies…all yardsale finds too. I’m getting a little tired of the scrollie things, but I think they’ll work fine in a new color. I do like their classic shapes.

And how pretty they look now in Heirloom White. Spray painting would have been faster, but I already had this can around, so I resorted to the brush. And it really doesn’t take long. I wanted to leave a little gold in the crevices anyway. Again, I’ll age these a little too.
More finds from long ago, these sconces also got in on the action.
With a fresh coat of satin black, they will be stunning and work together as a pair (a non-matching pair). I have some important plans for them.
This little $5 yardsale side table got a coat of stain earlier this year, but it was time once again for a really big change.
And Blue Ocean Breeze from Walmart did the trick.

Bet you know which room all of this will go in, don’t you?!

We are headed to the beach for a few days this week and it’s time for a giveaway. Stop back by on Monday for the giveaway post. Contest ends at 6:00 pm (Central) on Thursday the 30th and the winner will be posted on Friday. See you then! There’s a Bloggy Carnival going on next week too, so check out lots more giveaways.

Okay! I give up, I was betting you would be back by Sunday night, and you are getting ready to leave! I did not like hot tea either, working with an aviation company we were in 40 motor home going city to city state to state. Sometimes I had no choice hot soda, tea ect. Then when I was real sick, tea is only thing I could drink. Plus one of the pilot got me to drink coffee, by adding instant hot chocolate and french vanilla creamer. Home for 21/2 years. I left coffee behind. Tea parlors I have been too, tea was not strong enough I guess we southerners love ice tea strong.

Rhoda, I love what you have done…those mirrors look wonderful already. I really like what you did to that 5 dollar table. wow, love that ocean blue that you used. Can’t wait to see everything put together. Hope your days at the beach are not ‘windy’ or ‘rocky’ and that no one is ‘crabby’ but that you have a ‘whale’ of a good time! (Big smile)
    Blessings,
    Debbie

Ahhhhhhh yes have loads of fun at the beach! I wish I were you right now! 🙂 We just went weekend before last and I just dream of living in Gulf Shores close to the beach!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!! I found a canvas painting of a beach scene a couple months back at a garage sale for 2.00 and posted about it on my blog. Anyway that started the idea of a “beachy bedroom”. So I have been working on that project AND collecting stuff for it as well ever since. That’s about all I have talked about on my blog ever since I found that painting! lol It reminds me sooooo much of the beach at Gulf Shores. I’m wanting to tie this beachy bedroom into my decorating style in the other parts of the house but don’t know just quite how to do that. So I guess I’ll just wing it like I do with all the house decorating. lol
Anyway hoping you’re having loads of fun and can’t wait for your give away on Monday!

    Have fun at the beach!

Bet your finger hurts. I actually just painted 3 walls and boy was I out of shape. I woke up the next morning in pain. I guess it take muscle to paint. Muscle that I haven’t worked on in awhile. I’m guessing the table is going in the guest room? 🙂

I am in awe of you and your blog! I stumbled upon your blog about 2 weeks ago and have been staying up really late to catch up on all the posts (I have two little ones so not too much time to read). You are truly gifted with decorating (of course you didn’t know that did you? Ha) and I am learning so much. In fact the hubby and I bought a antique desk to re-do for our daughter’s room. We also just redid another vanity/desk and stool. I had some toile fabric samples for years now and didn’t know what to do with them so I used my favorite one to re-upholster my newly updated stool. You have inspired me!

Sorry…this post is waaay to long!
    Will be following along.

Wow. How do you paint with a brush so fast AND have it looks good? You’re such a quick worker and make it looks so good–I’m always jealous. 🙂

    Hi Rhoda,

Isn’t it fun to re-purpose what we already have. The little blue table is lovely and so cheery. I have been a lot of painting myself lately. I enjoyed by visit and well be back again.
    Have a wonderful day,
    Elizabeth

    Hey Rhoda!
The smell of paint is driving me crazy! LOL
Pat’s painting, you’re painting and I’m painting. And some of it is aqua/turquoise blue! It is just so funny isn’t it. But I’m loving it in each of our homes.
