Introducing Hometalk

Way back in the dark ages, when the world wide web was just getting started, I was one of those folks who got interested in online decorating boards and hung out regularly at a few of them.  It was fun to connect with others who loved this world of decorating and renovation as much as I do.  We’d talk about paint colors, kitchen makeovers, the latest and greatest in home décor and lots more chatting going on.   All about home and garden projects.

Back then, pictures were not even part of that discussion.  You had to visualize a paint color and try to get a view in your head of what someone was talking about or how pretty that room must be from the descriptions.  Then, pics exploded on the internet and wow, did that change things for those of us who love décor.  We could actually SEE those pics, that fabric, the kitchen cabinets all newly painted, closeups of hardware and everything else.

Our world was changed.  We were a community of changing ugly to pretty, one room at a time.

One of those new online sites that started just over a year ago is Hometalk.com.  It’s a very fun site to share your ideas, pics, projects, things you are proud of around your house.  The folks over there are a mixed group, from professionals who are eager to answer questions. If you have a question about a remodel or how to do something, they are glad to chime in and help.  There are plenty of bloggers, home owners, designers, and regular folks hanging out there too.  Lots of inspiration happening on a daily basis.

With lots of pics!  And they will be happy to give advice or suggestions if you have something you need help with.

Their motto is “where people share and help with everything home and garden.”  That sounds like me, for sure!  I love all of that.

I’m happy and excited to be joining Hometalk as an ambassador, so you’ll hear me talking about them a lot more in the next few months.  I’m going to be over there answering questions and chiming in more, as well as sharing some of my projects and pics there too.

I love connecting the blogging community with great resources and Hometalk.com is a good one.  The blogging community has been so much fun to be a part of and bloggers are highlighted over there on a regular basis. What better way to show off your projects and get some high-fives as well for a job well done?!

One of the things that I thought many of you might be interested in is this:   I know a bunch of my readers are not bloggers, but you love home stuff, just like I do (hello! that’s why you come back all time to my blog, right?!).  I think many of you would have fun sharing your projects over there. You can upload pics from your computer and share them with the Hometalk.com community.

Get feedback, ask questions and share ideas!  You can see some great remodels, like this beach cottage in Delaware.  Kitchen renovations, bathroom spruce ups and lots more.

That’s a lot of fun and I think you’ll all enjoy it too.  So, I hope you’ll go over, sign up and join and start talking about your home too.  There’s always something fun going on over there!

Hometalk has almost 400,000 Facebook followers too.  That’s a whole lotta homeowners all striving to make their houses a home, isn’t that truly what we are all trying to do with our homes?  I’ll be sharing some fun projects I find on Hometalk on my Facebook page too, so there are lots of opportunities to get noticed and have your work featured.

I’ll be also one of the pinners on the DIY that Inspires Pinterest board, so check that out too for lots of great inspiration.

I’ll be working closely with Miriam over at Hometalk.com.  She’s right here in Atlanta where I live and she’s put together an easy to follow post for getting started at Hometalk and How to Post Projects, so I hope you’ll head over there right now and check it out.

Are you ready to have some fun with Hometalk.com?  You’ll be seeing me over there on a regular basis as a Hometalk Ambassador and I’ll be tweeting and pinning some of my favorite projects along the way.
