It’s been such a joy to me in blogland for the past 7 years, watching my blog friends grow and seeing their success along with my own. Most of us who started blogging way back then are still going strong and still love this thing called blogging. It certainly has changed my life in so many profound ways and I’m still grateful every single day that I get to spend time with women all over the country, because of this blog. One of my long time friends in blogging, is Myquillyn Smith, also known as The Nester. She dubbed herself that early on, as she was fearful of sharing her real (unusual) name with the world wide web.
Her blog, the Nesting Place, encourages women to create a beautiful home without worrying about perfection. Who has time for that? Myquillyn put herself out there, sharing her window mistreatments, her hot glued pillows, letting women know that they could do things in their home all by themselves, using the budgets they had and that yes, indeed, it could be beautiful. Beauty is the in eye of the beholder and it definitely doesn’t have to have an expensive price tag.

The online world we live in can really suck the joy out of our own homes. Now that we can actually see millions of homes across the world just by clicking around the web, all of those perfect images can make us feel inadequate and our homes unworthy. But, we all know that isn’t real life. We all have to embrace our own homes and find the beauty in everything we surround ourselves with.
I’ve really enjoyed reading Nester’s words and thoughts in this book. She is helping to free women from the notion that everything in their homes have to be perfect to make them happy. How often does that happen? Maybe never? We all have imperfect homes and works in progress and to be content to make the most of what we have is the message in her book. I loved it and I think you will too.
Myquillyn and her publisher are giving away 3 books to my readers and I’m so happy to share this giveaway with you all!Â
Just leave a comment telling me what room in your house is the most imperfect and how would this book help you with the process of making that room a contented space?Â
our office is just a mish mash of random things, I would love to really focus on what we need in there and make it a great useable space
Our guest room! We just moved into this house and it has become the catch all. I know it’s temporary but it still drives me crazy..LOL
Hi Rhoda!
Wow, my master bath needs the most help!! From the 70s–tried to update with new hardware, towels and fresh accessories but have to remove wallpaper and change out vanity and shower!! Making the most with what I can afford!!! Being creative is the key ! Thanks. Carol
My large family room… serves many purposes but has many challenges!
I would have to say my office…I am never happy with the way it looks…just not functional! I would LOVE to win this book…
Which room ISN’T the most imperfect in my home? They all have their quirks, but the room that I’m least happy with at the moment is my guest bedroom, so I’m sure the book will help me find inspiration in imperfection – and that alone will make it easier to improve that space!
Hi Rhoda,
I would have to say the only room in our house that is not finished and the one that gives me the most grief right now is the craft/storage/art/sewing/spare room. What a MESS! I have made some half-hearted attempts to straighten out down there, but for some reason have not been motivated and so haven’t made much progress. But, it’s cool down there on hot days, and I know I would enjoy having the room organized and ready for any craft/sewing/art project this summer. So…maybe I’ll get busy on that soon!

My sunroom… sometimes wanting everything to be just right keeps me from beginning. I’m sure this book will give me some great ideas!
My living room – totally struggling putting it together and it’s a great space that seems wasted!
Unfortunately, I am having a hard time choosing one room. I have been feeling very dissatisfied in general with our 1960’s rancher and dream of a larger house – one with two stories etc. However, that isn’t in our budget and I am working on being content with what we have. If I had to choose one room that the book might help with though, it would probably be our master bedroom. It is currently a hodpodge of things thrown together. I have been “planning” a makeover for this room in my head for over a year but my indecision and our low budget (lol) keep getting in the way. Maybe this book could move me out of my paralysis:)
My bedroom is the most imperfect. It’s definitely due for an update.
My bedroom has always been “in the making”! I can’t seem to bring it all together.
Hi Rhoda,
My all-original 1960’s ranch kitchen with hand-made cabinets! Works but is definitely not perfect. Thanks for the chance to win.
My bedroom! Would like some budget friendly ideas to make it more cozy!
Hi Rhoda, We have just moved right up the country and I am faced with a flamboyant carpet and totally different colour scheme in my living/ dining room. We are renting at this stage so no major changes, his book would be a great encouragement to me to just make it beautiful….not perfect,
My tiny condominium kitchen is the most imperfect room in my home. Wish I could start from scratch! BTW, “The Nester” was the first decorating blog I followed and led me here to your wonderful blog.
Right now my bedroom is the worst room in my house – a good cleaning would help it tremendously! But some inspiration from ‘The Nesting Place’.
My long room that has become the junk room. It needs lots of love and decorating help. Thank you for the giveaway!
I would say the most imperfect room in my home is the master bedroom…it’s been a slow process and most of the time I don’t even know what direction I want to take it. I’m always jealous of those that have done this room in their house:/
I live in a 2 bedroom condo. I currently have custody of 2 small grandchildren. A boy and a girl. They are not allowed to share a room, so the boy has a room to himself and the girl shares mine. My challenge is how to keep it grown up for me and suitable for a 3 year old girl. I sure am hoping that the book will answer that problem for me.
Just one room? Ha. 🙂 We are in a rental, and I just feel stuck with the limited things I can do!! I would say our bedroom is probably the most pitiful. It’s lacking pretty much everything…just a bed and 4 walls. It needs some personality!
