It’s been such a joy to me in blogland for the past 7 years, watching my blog friends grow and seeing their success along with my own. Most of us who started blogging way back then are still going strong and still love this thing called blogging. It certainly has changed my life in so many profound ways and I’m still grateful every single day that I get to spend time with women all over the country, because of this blog. One of my long time friends in blogging, is Myquillyn Smith, also known as The Nester. She dubbed herself that early on, as she was fearful of sharing her real (unusual) name with the world wide web.
Her blog, the Nesting Place, encourages women to create a beautiful home without worrying about perfection. Who has time for that? Myquillyn put herself out there, sharing her window mistreatments, her hot glued pillows, letting women know that they could do things in their home all by themselves, using the budgets they had and that yes, indeed, it could be beautiful. Beauty is the in eye of the beholder and it definitely doesn’t have to have an expensive price tag.

The online world we live in can really suck the joy out of our own homes. Now that we can actually see millions of homes across the world just by clicking around the web, all of those perfect images can make us feel inadequate and our homes unworthy. But, we all know that isn’t real life. We all have to embrace our own homes and find the beauty in everything we surround ourselves with.
I’ve really enjoyed reading Nester’s words and thoughts in this book. She is helping to free women from the notion that everything in their homes have to be perfect to make them happy. How often does that happen? Maybe never? We all have imperfect homes and works in progress and to be content to make the most of what we have is the message in her book. I loved it and I think you will too.
Myquillyn and her publisher are giving away 3 books to my readers and I’m so happy to share this giveaway with you all!Â
Just leave a comment telling me what room in your house is the most imperfect and how would this book help you with the process of making that room a contented space?Â

I would LOVE to win this book! I’ve been reading so much about it and adore the concept of living happily with what you have and finding joy and contentment in simplicity and imperfection! In our home, my sewing room is definitely the most imperfect room! It consists of leftover bits and pieces of furniture that came from my single days, thrift and garage sale finds, etc. Somehow, it all comes together and I absolutely love spending time in that little, cramped and haphazardly decorated space!
Warm regards,

Master bedroom – I can never manage to make it as inviting as the rest of the house……
I need to read the Nester’s book just to knock it into my brain for my WHOLE house that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful! I am always thinking how my home and actually my whole LIFE could be so much better of it were just a little more this or a little less that. It is sometimes hard to appreciate what we have and be grateful instead of diminishing what we DO have. I really do see the sinfulness of wanting more and I DO appreciate all I do have, but I need to hear more of her version of celebrating things in my home just the way they are right now. Seeing her whole home which IS beautiful just the way it is would be an eye opener for me. Thanks for this chance to win!
Right now I’m in transition from a parsonage to a rented town home. I really identify with the Nester and her years of renting. I would love to do some updating in my bedroom.
My pink living room.
All the clutter in my office.
My sewing/office space needs inspiration and probably less furniture.
My living room needs help. I need inspiration. Love this giveaway!!
My craft room has been a disaster. I am working on it and would love to have the book to help in the process.
My mom’s home. Daddy doesn’t like change but I am printing the Master BR this weekend. Would love to use the book to get some fresh decorating ideas! PICK ME!!!
painting not printing…
I would love to work on our master bedroom. Thanks for hosting!
My den has a wall that is unfinished sheet rock and the floor is exposed concrete subfloor. The most imperfect space you could imagine! The floor still shows the imprints of industrial tile squares and the black glue. Yet, I could photograph one wall and you would think it’s professionally decorated. I call it my Nester Smith style!
My home’s master bathroom could use some beautifying! Hopefully I will get some ideas on who to do that from this book!
My master bath needs a redo!
My room would have to be my bedroom. I’ve just had settling cracks repaired and unsuccessfully tried to match the existing paint. The walls look dreadful!! I’ve had the same duvet for 20 years. Since it appears I’m going to have to repaint the walls, I would like to change the look and feel of the room completely, but am floundering for ideas.
I have to say our main bathroom. it’s country run amuck….I really need some ideas.
My office, or as I like to call it “my Art Room”. The light in the room isn’t right, so I paint on our sun porch, the supplies I use are stored upstairs.
My living room is a disaster! Two years ago purchased a new sofa, rug, recliner (leather-for the hubby) and fabric for draperies. Then my daughter was in an accident and in the hospital/recovery for several months. Never got around to painting or making the draperies. The recliner is broken and the sofa fabric has not worn well (very disappointed in the quality; they were purchased from a national company and not cheap!) The old wall color clashes with the sofa. I really want to start over.
I would love to redo my living room and would love Nester’s book for inspiration.
