Today I’m sharing something that really makes me happy!
I finally got rid of the BIG jewelry cabinet that I had all my jewelry stored in for probably the last 20 years. It took up valuable floor space in my small walk-in closet and it was definitely too cluttered. It was time to get rid of some of that jewelry that I’ve been collecting over the years. And it sure feels great to declutter. I plan to do more of that in the next couple of months and get rid of more excess around here, although when you see my new storage case, you’ll see it’s filled to the brim?
Why do we women love our jewelry so much?
Getting my closet in shape really feels good and I’m going to give you the grand tour (haha, not really, there’s nothing grand about it). This might be a small walk-in, but I’m happy to have it. I cleaned out my closet and all my clothes fit in here just fine now.
My bifold doors hide my closet and it’s just big enough to hold all I need. The 25 cubby shoe holder I love and it really gets shoes up off the floor where you can see them. You can find these at many home stores. Boots and tennis shoes sit on the floor.
Right side of the closet, organized with jackets on the top, along with skirts. Bottom rack has long sleeved tops and I keep them color coordinated. That tackle box holds my cosmetic collection. Yes, I have too much of that too. My sister started me on that trend years ago and a tackle box holds lots of makeup!
Pants on the top rack, along with sweaters and the bottom rack holds short sleeved tops, all color coordinated too. I have a compact laundry holder than I found at a yardsale. It all works for me! There’s also a top shelf that goes all along the top that you can’t see and it holds all my purses and other things.
Did you notice the pretty white mirrored piece? This white mirrored piece is one of the best things I’ve ever gotten and what I want to show y’all today. Working with Wayfair, they asked me to try out a storage piece and I was so excited to get this wall mount jewelry holder that hangs on the wall. With Christmas coming up, I was challenged to find some hiding places for Christmas gifts. Could you hide some gifts in this jewelry case? Of course you can!
I decluttered my jewelry and kept favorite pieces and yes, I do still have a lot of costume jewelry. But, I do love jewelry and enjoy wearing it with my outfits. Jewelry truly does make an outfit special. I’ve had many of these pieces for years.
There are so many hooks in this piece and it is 4’ tall by about 14” wide. And it isn’t very deep so really doesn’t take up a lot of room on the wall. It’s the perfect jewelry case for me. I managed to get it hung up by myself, by propping it on a stool and putting in the wall anchors and screws.
All my necklaces are hung up and so nice and neat now. Watches and bracelets also have their own place. At the bottom is a box with dividers that holds smaller items.
It has a ring holder and plenty of room for earrings. Most of my earrings are wired, and they just fit right over the slots and sit in here neatly.
So, where do you hide Christmas presents?
This storage piece wouldn’t hold anything big, but you could definitely get a small jewelry box like this size in here, as well as a small Christmas bag or two. Close the door and no ones the wiser. Stocking stuffers would fit in here.
I remember my mom hiding our presents when we were kids and I think we found some in her closet one time. I didn’t usually go looking for presents ahead of time, I liked being surprised. We didn’t really believe in Santa though, did you?
How about you? Do you hide presents and where to you hide them? Do your kids (or grandkids) go looking for Christmas presents?
Wayfair sent me this jewelry organizer for my closet and I absolutely LOVE it! I’m finally organized now with my jewelry collection and that feels so good. If you are looking for one of these, I’d highly recommend this one. I hung it up by myself and it really gives me so much more room in my closet now. My closet isn’t grand, but it sure is more organized now.
Note: Wayfair provided the jewelry organizer storage piece for me to share it with my readers, but I wasn’t compensated additionally.

Girl, I do love me an organized closet. And, your new jewelry storage is awesome. I even have some of my mother’s old costume jewelry which I still love.
Day four of my Holiday Home Tour is now posted. I hope you can come by to visit and say hello.♥

I love the jewelry organizer! Your jewelry matches the colors of your home, so pretty! I stuff my boots with small rolled up magazines so they don’t flop over and take up more room. I need to purge too, but there is something’s a girl’s gotta keep! Merry Christmas!
Glenda Niederhofer says
Love all that organization! I have been considering the wall unit for jewelry storage and seeing it on your site just sealed the deal! Merry Christmas!
Molly Tilson says
Wow that is a great piece! Your closet is fabulous. Yes, my Mom would hide presents. I didn’t like to find them either. I did look in a sack once filled with all sorts of Avon goodies for my stocking. My younger sister would always wake first to see what Santa brought and come back to wake me and tell me everything I got…grrrr! 😉

Very nice! Where would one purchase the jewelry organizer?
Rhoda says
Hi, Sheila, it’s linked there in the post, over to Wayfair.com.

Oh my word! I’m one of those women who can get by with two pairs of earrings (gold and silver) my wedding set, a watch (I have one) and maybe a bracelet. I own ZERO costume jewelry necklaces. I need to know: am I the only person in the world who is a jewelry minimalist? (I DO love the closet organization. A messy closet makes me nuts.)
Rhoda says
Haha, Becky! I’m not a minimalist when it comes to jewelry, clothes and shoes. I love being stylish and the jewelry goes along with that for me. But everyone has their own style, so do what you love.
Becky in 'Bama says
And that’s what I love about you – your blog is always fresh and new with affordable ways to bling up our homes and life. p.s. – I have Major Envy of that ‘white-ware’ in your dining room and kitchen.

I have this exact same jewelry mirror on my wall, except in the maple finish. I absolutely love it. Its so beautiful and does hold a lot of jewelry. I don’t have as much as you, though.
Patricia says
I’ve seen a full length mirror hiding storage behind … which I just love! But I didn’t know I could find one pre-made. This would be big enough to hide all my jewelry and then some. Forget hiding presents, I’d love THIS as a present!
Stacey says
Looks great Rhoda! That jewelry organizer is so cool. I wish I had a place to put that. It’s perfectly ok to have that much jewelry, I think. Most costume jewelry is inexpensive and it sure changes the look of a simple top. 🙂

Love the jewelry organizer! One of those is definitely going on my Christmas wish list.

I have this exact piece, I got it from csn (remember them?!) I loved it b/c there is so much necklace storage, many of them don’t have that whole wall space for necklaces. I use this piece every single day! and-big and-it is what finally prompted the boyfriend to paint our bedroom! he wasn’t going to hang this without painting our walls. win win!!

OMG! You don’t believe in Santa Claus? Nice jewelry case. I know that you will enjoy that.

Rhoda–looks FANtastic! I just love an organized closet!
~As you can see by the little 6ft’er I re-organized! http://freddyandpetunia.wordpress.com/2012/05/26/old-closet-new-closet/
~And my interpretation of the jewelry organizer you bought! http://freddyandpetunia.wordpress.com/2012/01/28/my-jewelry-box/
BTW–1) I got teased for being a jewelry-hoarder after I posted, but I think I can safely plead my innocence and redirect them to you! ; D
And–2) in clothes, shoes, jewelry–minimalism is for people without much to say!

Rhoda says
Nice job, Catherine! I like those framed jewelry boards, but I have way too much for that, as you can see.
Catherine says
Yes, I see!
I’d like to raid your collection!
Amy Mason says
Looks good! I have one suggestion: buy pool noodles, cut them to the right size, and stick them in your boots and they won’t fall over onto your shirts anymore. Genius idea I found on the internet!

That is a great piece! I have so much jewelry as well and right now, its all in different containers. I saw a piece similar to this by Lori Grenier (Shark Tank and QVC) on QVC last week. Eventually, I will need to get all my stuff in one place. I used to work for a closet design company and the first thing I learned was how to organize a closet, use two bars to store more clothes and my favorite, keep all items and colors of the same together. Really makes getting dressed a lot easier!
Linda Shoemaker says
I like the jewelry holder alot, but I’d need two or three!Guess I could see front and back that way. And,I do wear it All at some point each year. Where do you store blazers, jackets and coats?
I seem to have a wider range of colors to figure out,but like it organized like you did. Thanks for all your wonderful posts, both decorating and personal!
God Bless you and your family this Christmas.
Rhoda says
HI, Linda, my jackets are up there too, all hung up on the top row. I have a few heavier coats in a hall closet.
Roz says
Looks like a Lori Grenier ‘SafeKeeper’ sold on QVC: H1043
Jeanie says
That is great! Wish I had room for something like that. I also wish I had a walk-in closet!

I have a similar piece to hold my jewelry and I love it. As another Georgia “girl” I love following your blog.
I do have a suggestion for you: To keep your boots from flopping over, use a piece of pipe insulation. You can buy a 4 ft. section at Home Depot/Lowes for 97 cents, cut it into sections and you can use it for several pairs of boots. It is very light in weight, too. A rolled up magazine will do the job, too, but I prefer the pipe insulation. Doesn’t take up much room on the floor when you are wearing the boots.
Marty@A Stroll Thru Life says
What a great piece and you have a dressing mirror too. That makes it twice as nice. Hugs, Marty
