We are one week away from Thanksgiving and you know what that means? Christmas will be flying in with super speed and we will all be scurrying around getting our homes decorated and spruced up for Christmas.
How and when do you decorate for Christmas? I’m starting now and have actually started earlier than this before, but I’m trying to savor the season and enjoy the moments in our new house. Have you thought about adding real plants in your home to decorate for Christmas? Or do you have those folks in your life who are hard to buy for?
You know? The ones who already have everything so what do you buy them? Gifting can be a challenge during this time of the year, when you want to remember someone, but you don’t want to just give them a gift card or just any old thing.
Know anyone that would qualify for a gift like this? I know a few of them in my world.
I met the fine folks at Jackson and Perkins at my Spring visit to Moss Mountain farm out in Arkansas earlier this year and I’m partnering with them today to share some wonderful and beautiful gift ideas with you for the upcoming season.

I’m going to share some great gift ideas that you might not have considered before for those special someones who may be hard to buy for, but would appreciate a living gift for Christmas. Jackson and Perkins sent me some beautiful living plants to try out at my house, to welcome in the Holiday season with special plants that really speak to this time of year and the celebrating at home that we will all be doing the rest of the year.

Instead of a same ole’ same ole’ sweater or shirt for someone, how about a living gift?
This lovely Seasons Greetings succulent garden has a hint of red berries and evergreen sprigs tucked inside that add such a merriment to my side table in the kitchen. I just love this little plant!

I haven’t seen Christmas catus in awhile, but this one in a rustic crate is so pretty and will really add some festive touches to our house this season.

The blooms on this catus are just gorgeous and they opened up after it arrived at my house.

It’s been so fun to watch it unfold and get more beautiful every day.

I had fun playing around with the succulent garden and added some pretty gold balls to really accent the Christmas spirit it adds. Can’t you imagine the joy it would bring to someone to give them a live plant for Christmas and have it delivered to their door? Sharing the Christmas joy when you’re not sure what to buy for someone.

When the Christmas cactus arrived, it wasn’t even blooming yet and then day by day it opened up.

And an explosion of red blooms popped out so pretty. I know it’s going to add so much to our house over the Holidays this year. I just love plants and can never have too many of them. In fact, I plan to add more plants to our house. They just make a house come alive and feel so good.

And the third plant from Jackson and Perkins I’m enjoying in our home this season is this beautiful white orchid in a pretty coppery pot. I haven’t had really good luck with orchids before, but I’m going to try to keep this one alive. It really adds a lot of beauty to our foyer table coming in the door.
So, back to those hard to buy for friends and relatives. You know who they are! If you haven’t considered a live Christmas plant before, maybe this year you should. Real plants bring so much joy and such a warm feeling to a home and I think most everyone would enjoy having one of these beauties around, don’t you?
This post is sponsored by Jackson and Perkins, but all these ideas are my own, as is my love of plants in general.
And really great news….Jackson and Perkins is going to give away a $100 giftcard to one of my readers so that you can shop for live Chrismtas gifts this year and add some festive touches to your home too! Don’t you love that?
Just fill out the Rafflecopter widget with your email and answer this question….

I love the Christmas plants and the way you displayed them. I am happy for the chance to win this prize from Jackson Perkins. Thank you.
THe Peppermint Twist hydrangea is my favorite. A candy cane treat.
Oops I forgot to add my favorite Christmas plant has always been the poinsiettia.
I would love a new orchid!
Great gift idea.
Working at a garden center in the 80’s I was in charge of ordering, and also unloading those 18-wheeler trucks, then displaying. A favorite memory are the cases of Christmas cactus to unpack and display, plants were huge, and well formed, draping in voluptuous curves around their 10″ pots with zillions of blooms. Over 100, at my feet, ahead of setting their display up.
Do keep your Christmas cactus thriving, year 2 you’ll have the big bodacious showtime. You’ll have to do another post about them, then, set in same spot, with side by side pics.
That job spoiled me for plants !!!
Garden & Be Well, XOT
I love Gardina and to have them around the house at Christmas would be amazing. They are so fragrant and the white color with lights make them look and smell amazing. I love plants and have recently gotten rid of all my old ficus trees that were artificial as well as all the silk plants….. thanks to Rhoda and replaced them with live plants. I love to see them grow and actually treat them like children. I hate to see when they are not producing new growth.
Rhoda what a great company to partner with!
The older my Mom gets the harder she is to buy for but I have found that the last 2 years giving plants
for holidays and birthdays is something she really enjoys. I may give plants or gift cards this year so that
friends who have lost a love one in 2017 can plant something beautiful in memory of them. Thank you for
showcasing a new company for me to try. 🙂
I love that Christmas Cactus and that beautiful orchid. I am putting them on my wish list!
Everything on their site is really beautiful! It would be a tough call…except unfortunately for the pine offerings as I am allergic :(… I think the wall hanging “Portrait” succulent garden is both pretty & unique. I love a good conversation starter in one’s home-
