We are one week away from Thanksgiving and you know what that means? Christmas will be flying in with super speed and we will all be scurrying around getting our homes decorated and spruced up for Christmas.
How and when do you decorate for Christmas? I’m starting now and have actually started earlier than this before, but I’m trying to savor the season and enjoy the moments in our new house. Have you thought about adding real plants in your home to decorate for Christmas? Or do you have those folks in your life who are hard to buy for?
You know? The ones who already have everything so what do you buy them? Gifting can be a challenge during this time of the year, when you want to remember someone, but you don’t want to just give them a gift card or just any old thing.
Know anyone that would qualify for a gift like this? I know a few of them in my world.
I met the fine folks at Jackson and Perkins at my Spring visit to Moss Mountain farm out in Arkansas earlier this year and I’m partnering with them today to share some wonderful and beautiful gift ideas with you for the upcoming season.

I’m going to share some great gift ideas that you might not have considered before for those special someones who may be hard to buy for, but would appreciate a living gift for Christmas. Jackson and Perkins sent me some beautiful living plants to try out at my house, to welcome in the Holiday season with special plants that really speak to this time of year and the celebrating at home that we will all be doing the rest of the year.

Instead of a same ole’ same ole’ sweater or shirt for someone, how about a living gift?
This lovely Seasons Greetings succulent garden has a hint of red berries and evergreen sprigs tucked inside that add such a merriment to my side table in the kitchen. I just love this little plant!

I haven’t seen Christmas catus in awhile, but this one in a rustic crate is so pretty and will really add some festive touches to our house this season.

The blooms on this catus are just gorgeous and they opened up after it arrived at my house.

It’s been so fun to watch it unfold and get more beautiful every day.

I had fun playing around with the succulent garden and added some pretty gold balls to really accent the Christmas spirit it adds. Can’t you imagine the joy it would bring to someone to give them a live plant for Christmas and have it delivered to their door? Sharing the Christmas joy when you’re not sure what to buy for someone.

When the Christmas cactus arrived, it wasn’t even blooming yet and then day by day it opened up.

And an explosion of red blooms popped out so pretty. I know it’s going to add so much to our house over the Holidays this year. I just love plants and can never have too many of them. In fact, I plan to add more plants to our house. They just make a house come alive and feel so good.

And the third plant from Jackson and Perkins I’m enjoying in our home this season is this beautiful white orchid in a pretty coppery pot. I haven’t had really good luck with orchids before, but I’m going to try to keep this one alive. It really adds a lot of beauty to our foyer table coming in the door.
So, back to those hard to buy for friends and relatives. You know who they are! If you haven’t considered a live Christmas plant before, maybe this year you should. Real plants bring so much joy and such a warm feeling to a home and I think most everyone would enjoy having one of these beauties around, don’t you?
This post is sponsored by Jackson and Perkins, but all these ideas are my own, as is my love of plants in general.
And really great news….Jackson and Perkins is going to give away a $100 giftcard to one of my readers so that you can shop for live Chrismtas gifts this year and add some festive touches to your home too! Don’t you love that?

I’d choose the Christmas cactus. My mother always had such success with them and now that she’s gone, I’d like to see if I might have inherited her green thumb.
I would pick an amaryllis or bromeliad for my dad – he loves plants – and a succulent for my sister (she has cats and I think those would be safe).
I grow lots of amaryllis every year for the holidays. Some of them are passed down from my husbands grandmother. I always want more to enjoy & share.
I’m familiar with Jackson & Perkins gifts as I’ve used them before. I’d give the Golden Glow Papillio Amaryllis Duo in the gold foil container because I think it’s super festive in that pot and the Festive Amaryllis Trio just because that’s my favorite Amaryllis and I’d love to introduce a great friend to it!
Thanks for the informative post and the opportunity to enter the great giveaway!!
Happy Holidays to you and yours Rhoda!!
I think I would get the succulents as I don’t have any of those currently! They were all beautiful! I don’t have luck with orchids either.
Oh, how lovely! I would choose some succulents in a little terrarium. The cats seem to leave succulents alone!
The orchid is definitely my favorite. They are so elegant!
I like the Christmas cactus. I have had good luck with them in the past.
Great idea for my friends!
I would love a Christmas cactus…….Happy Thanksgiving!
I would choose a Gardenia. Thank you for the chance to win.
Hands down the Christmas cactus! It is beautiful!
I love the plants you have in your home & if I win, I would choose the Christmas cactus. Thank you for the raffle.
So hard to choose a favorite from so many beautiful plants, but I think I would have to pick the striped amaryllis. I’ve never seen a striped one before. It is beautiful!
Love the Christmas cactus!
Try putting the orchid in a bathroom. They love the moisture from the shower. I love the Christmas cactus. The one I received last year is blooming again and sitting on my Thanksgiving table. Wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.
