Loft Tour with Kerry Howard

A few weeks ago, some blog friends and I met up at a beautiful loft tour in Atlanta and got the opportunity to view some wonderfully designed lofts with spectacular views of the city.  I didn’t take pics of all of them, but I especially liked what Atlanta designer, Kerry Howard, did with his space.   It was my fave.  Kerry and I met up a few years ago at an Eddie Ross event here in Atlanta and it seems that every time I get an invitation to a design event in the city, Kerry is always there. He’s a fun-loving guy and very talented and it is always great to catch up with him.   He and Eddie were on that fun Top Design show a few years ago and I watched faithfully every week as they all competed for the finale.

The sun was dipped down low as we arrived at the loft tours and enjoyed the views.

100

Up close and personal with the Southern Company.

059

Kerry’s space had a beautiful view of the city as well, with windows all on one side.

067

Here’s Kerry greeting everyone who came by.  He’s so friendly and fun.

063

The living room space was comfortable and artistic with this large wall mural homage to Gone with the Wind .  You can get away with this in a show house  tour.  Of course, that is the first thing that everyone noticed upon entering Kerry’s loft.

069

He picked these chairs up at a consignment space, I think I remember that part.  Fun and classic.

064

Coffee table accessories.

079

Modern mirrored coffee table and traditional elements meld this space together.

080

Loved the nailhead Greek key design on this chair.

077

Modern and sophisticated

068

All spaces come alive with real plants and I love these.

065

The dining room/kitchen space was functional and pretty.

076

Especially this large pink chandy, it was a beauty to behold.

081

Greek key upholstery on the chairs in black and white is a classic on for the table.

062

The bedroom is girly and feminine, but also very pretty.

066

Lovely!

075

Rhett and Ashley pillows give another nod to that classic iconic movie.

074

And here’s the bathroom space.

It was so fun to have a girl’s night out and visit these spacious and well-designed loft homes.  It seems a lot of folks like living in town now, so loft living is becoming ever more popular.

Hope you enjoyed Kerry’s fun space!

I have always wanted to live in a loft. It would be so exciting to live in the heart of the city. But price and ginormous furniture have kept me from doing such.
Did the kitchen have a dish washer. I noticed all the other appliances but didn’t see a dish washer.

I live in a high-rise city condo so really enjoyed seeing this. Kerry has done a great job with the one big “kitchen, dining room, living room.” Not easy to do. Love the accessories ~ very sophisticated. The living room furniture is so neutral, you could vary the look quite easily.

I love the things you do in your decorating & there are things I liked here ( like the gorgeous plants & windows) but this just looks strange to me. The mural is creepy. :o( I can see why he chose Gone With The Wind as a theme being in Atlanta though all the pink was too much. I don’t like the pink chandelier at all. It’s not a place I would ever feel at home in for sure.

Well, I won’t list all I don’t like. I’ve never written a negative comment on your blog but I’m surprised this was your favorite. I usually love what you love.

I hope it’s ok that I write my opinion this way. I’m not attacking you or the designer in any way, just sharing with you what I like, hopefully in a respectful way. I still love your blog & love seeing the work on your house!

HI, Jen, no problem, we all have our own opinions & I don’t mind you expressing yours. Show houses are meant to be fun and that’s why designers sometimes do things over the top and dramatic. Not that you’d want to live with that in your own home, but I can appreciate the drama and whimsy of a loft tour like this. That’s why I shared it, to show something different and whimsical. It’s also girly and feminine too, which I can totally appreciate. You’ll find plenty more on my blog that you’ll love again!

Oh my gosh, I love this space. Thanks for sharing it Rhoda. The Rhett and Ashley pillows on the bed are my favorite part, I think, but there’s so much to love here.

Hi Rhoda…….Enjoyed the tour……I love the look of glitz, glamour and traditional along with more modern style. Perfect for that setting……loft living. Family homes we tend to do alittle more different but still LOVE!

I loved the sophisticated mix in the guest room. It likes the walls are painted a very pale pink is that true? I have a guest room that I painted pink but it’s too bright, this one looks nice.

Love all the GWTW notes through out the loft. I love his tablescapes. Some times I just change a table top to make things a bit different in my home!

I loved every bit of this loft til I got to the bathroom and am wondering: how do you stand at the sink to brush your teeth with the suitcase in the way and sticking out so far:):) I am “vertically challenged” so notice things like this:):) Great space. XO, Pinky

Fun! A designer who likes to have fun… that is what I look for! He likes to have fun and change it up a bit! Thanks for thinking of us and giving us a bit of a change. I have friends who are going to live in the city for a while… before they move on to their retirement home. I will tell them a Pink Chandy is a must! LOL!!! ~Nancy

First of all, may I say what an enjoyable blog I find yours to be.

Watching your own house renovation projects unfold and seeing the effort your family put in with you is hugely enjoyable as well as informative and enjoyable pieces like this loft tour blog. I enjoy yours as greatly as any other blog I follow.

Back to topic, I have to say that I found myself dreaming of being single and reliving a fantasy that I have always had. Like most of us, such dreams are out of my range but that doesn’t stop me enjoying the fantasy. The loft tour was great.

What sets it off is the great choice of modern and sophisticated furnishings in the living room. I adored the mirrored coffee table and thought it worked so well with the beautiful black leather stools. The plants and choice of furnishings in the window I loved. Some may say, why fill in a window space when you have a view like that, but all the same I loved the style.

The gentle pinks in the bathroom and bedroom are very charming and the only negative for me was the pink chandelier which although beautiful, is a little overpowering for my taste but I’m being picky there.

Keep up the good work and I don’t know if your reminding me of my single man fantasy is good for me, but I enjoyed it even if I will never have it myself.
