What a beautiful sight to see Mt. Rainier up close and personal. The closer you get, the more majestic it becomes and we were so blessed to see it on a good day with clear weather.
Most of these pics were with my new camera and I think you’ll agree that it’s doing a fabulous job and yes, I’m very happy with it. I am using PhotoFiltre for the most part to do a little bit of tweaking with contrast and giving the color a little shot, but other than that, they are right out of the camera on Auto or Program. Maybe one of these days, I’ll be a Manual girl too. 🙂
With views like these, the scenery really doesn’t need a lot of help. It was amazing to see the snow piled up there from lots of snowfall during the last year. It was hard and crunchy. I’ll just stop talking now and let you enjoy the views from the top. We did about a 4 hour drive through all these winding mountains, gasping all the way at the beauty before us.
I did fall in love with the evergreen trees. It’s like having Christmas year round, with all those beautiful fir trees in abundance.
These ferns were so pretty and I picked fronds from 3 different kinds to bring home and dry. I hope to frame them.
The beauty out here is just spectacular, so if you’ve never been to the Pacific Northwest, I would definitely urge you to go. It’s a rugged and raw scenery that can’t be rivaled.
Hope you enjoyed the pics! I’ll be back with more from Bainbridge Island and the whale watching day.

What GORGEOUS photos – and with a new camera? You did a great job. I’d take a day in the mountains over an afternoon at the beach any day. So pretty, thanks for sharing those. 🙂

Oh Rhoda you are making me jealous! I lived in Seattle for a year and NEVER got sick of seeing Mt. Ranier! I hiked around it several times. It always amazed me how you could hike in snow in June with shorts and a t on! One of God’s wonderful creations for sure! Thanks you so much for sharing and bringing back such great memories for me!!!

LOVE your photos! You made me so homesick … especially some of the gorgeous shots with beautiful blue skies. Everyone thinks rain when they think of Seattle but those of us who live or have lived in the Pacific Northwest know rain is only a small portion of the story. The grass is so incredibly green and the flowers are bigger there than anywhere else I have ever lived. The trees are magnificent! Living on the edge of the Puget Sound I was so fortunate to have views of the sound, Mt. Rainier and the Olympic Mountain range. I can’t wait to see more of your wonderful photos. They are bringing back fabulous memories!!

Oh you are making me jealous! I have been in Seattle many times and NEVER got sick of seeing Mt. Rainier! I went camping on it and will never forget that experience. Thanks you so much for sharing and bringing back such great memories for me!!!

I am laughing at all the comments about the rain coming back! I cannot believe we got so blessed to get sun almost the whole time we were there & only a tiny sprinkle of rain the last day. I’m not sure I could handle that much rain, but when ya’ll get sunshine, it’s a magical place.

Rhoda! Your pictures are stunning! If you want to move into manual mode, I highly recommend Angie Seaman’s beginner’s course. Check out my latest post to see the info. I shot a ton of pictures today in manual of all the kids playing in a rain shower. I was so proud of myself! Frankly, I think your pictures are outstanding!! I can’t wait to see your pictures from whale watching! That is something I definitely want to do!

Your fabulous style, home design, and your lovingly thought-out posts have really been a balm for my soul. I would love it if you ever got a chance to visit my new blog, http://southerninmyheart.blogspot.com, as I am representing Southern Sensibility and Style right here in the Northwest! Blessings!

Rhoda,
Thanks for sharing the pics. My husband and I spent just over 2 years in Seattle and I must tell you….everyday that I saw that mountain was magnificant. We had a perfect view on a clear day right from our patio. I guess my favorite place in PNW is Snoqualmie Falls. Be sure to visit the falls and Salish Lodge on your next trip.

Hi Rhoda! I love all of the fir trees too. Your new camera is taking such beautiful pics, but I am sure that your talent as a photographer is a big part of the result. Do you plan to drive up the Olympic Peninsula? If you do, I would recommend stopping in Port Townsend and visiting all of the lovely old Victorians there.
Love,
Susan and Bentley
