Making a Christmas Centerpiece

I shared my complete Christmas table with you awhile ago, the pretty green and red table I set up on my porch awhile back.  But, I didn’t show you the complete how-to on what I did to the metal container that held the outdoor evergreen tree. I love using these real plants for a centerpiece.  You can plant them outdoors later if you wish.

Christmas table

Here’s my completed centerpiece with all the red and green.  I love this color combination and you can’t go wrong with red and green.

evergreen in bucket

A Blue Point juniper makes a great Christmas tree centerpiece and you can always plant it in the yard later if you wish.  I picked up the silver handled bucket at Lowes as well.

plumbing pieces and red spray paint

These plumbing couplings were about a $1 each and I thought they would be great to hold my tiny cacti that I found in red and green, perfect for Christmas colors.  Red Valspar spray paint was the obvious choice for color.

tape off with Frogtape

Outdoors I went with my taped off bucket handle and I used Frogtape® ShapeTape™ in chevron to add a fun pattern to the bucket.  Everything got a coat of glossy red spray paint.

The ShapeTape came off and I was left with a nice silver stripe on the bucket.

Frogtape

I added FrogTape to the bottom of my now red couplings to hold the cactus in place at each place setting.

bucket and ornaments

Since the bucket was a little more shallow than I wanted, I wrapped it in a strip of burlap and added a pretty green satin ribbon and that completed my Christmas centerpiece idea.  I love how it turned out and it was an inexpensive way to put together a table setting on a budget. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a cute table centerpiece.

Have you tried the FrogTape® Shape Tape™ yet? FrogTape® comes up with some great things and Shape Tape™ makes it easy to try some fun painting projects that otherwise would be really time consuming. This tape is very easy to work with. You can find it at Home Depot or Lowes or either online.

I love the idea of planting the centerpiece in the yard later. Brillant.

Your centerpiece looks really lovely Rhoda, I hope you have a very merry Christmas, it is already Christmas Day here in NZ and I have unwrapped my first DSLR camera and taken a couple of shots for today’s post on my blog. However, I am a little disappointed as I it is way too technical for me to use properly just yet, I am signing up for a course in the New Year so I can do the camera justice.
