Let’s get started early today! We are having our small group from church over for a cookout this evening and just had 2 days of the worst thunderstorms we’ve had ALL year! Where oh where is the sunshine?! Oh well, we are gonna cook those hamburgers regardless, inside or out.
We had severe thunderstorms on Friday night and woke up to more rain on Saturday morning (which we were needing, thank the Lord!), so we didn’t try to go to the berry festival. I hate it for them though, as I’m sure the rain kept a lot of people away for their big event. We sure enjoyed it last year. So, I did manage to go to 2 big sales that were in my vicinity, between the rain.
Adding more to my white dish collection, I found 4 of these beautiful scrolly-edged dinner plates and 2 salad plates for $4. I just love how these look. They have a little brown/beige pattern interspersed with the white and I thought they were just adorable, very vintagey. They aren’t marked on the back at all, so I have no idea who made them, but they look pretty old.
I really love old bottles and bottles that have pretty and interesting shapes. These were $1 for both of them. I’m sure the one on the right is pretty old, not sure about the other one.
And this is the first time I’ve scored on vintage Christmas ornaments. These silvered ones were $1 for all. They will work perfectly with all my other silver and mercury glass collection next Christmas. Ha! I can see my reflection in one of them.
I visited an antique mall in Gardendale recently (suburb of Birmingham and I’ll share that outing later) and found a couple more white ironstone pieces for my growing white dish collection. These are the size of a sugar and creamer, did not come together, but look like they totally could have been a matched set. They were $1 each, very affordable and I just love the shape of them.
This one has some cute little feet and I think I’ll put a little plant in it and maybe do a grouping of plants in white planters.
And this little creamer was too cute to pass up either. I love the simplicity of these old pieces and I can even see the paint drip marks on this old piece of pottery.
And from a yardsale near my neighborhood a couple weeks ago, I scored this little black floral beauty of a tole platter for $10. I have a small collection of these black ones and this makes the 3rd that I’ve found at a yardsale. Soft and delicate pink flowers.
I put it at the top of the stairs.
By the antique mirror.
Did ya’ll get out this weekend? Hope the weather was better for you and you found some treasures.

Love the rose plaque, and it looks great where you hung it!
Hi! I'm here looking at all of your pretties and wishing I wasn't on a thrifting diet! It's fun to see what everyone else is finding too. Thanks for hosting Thrifty Treasures! I'm sure I won't be able to stay away for long! If you ever decide to open up a booth somewhere, let me know! 🙂
I hope I played with Mr. Linky right! If not, it's my first time, sorry. I love garage sales and thrift stores!!!
Vintage Silver Xmas decorations…for a dollar…wow, lucky you, that is fantastic!!!
Afew weekends ago I scored the "Ralph Lauren" animal print bedding I had been searching for for 4 years…at a Garage Sale for 20.00..a full sheet set and comforter, even my husband had a smile on his face as we walked back to the car with our score…
We always make Garage Saleing fun,
always make a coffee and cake date out of the day…
Hi Rhoda
I love the bottles.
I just went to Homegoods for the first time…it's my new favortie store!:)

Chrissie Grace
We have had the rain! I hope the sunshine came before your cookout.
Great Finds, Rhoda! My favorite is the tole tray! I collect those, also. Your old mirror and the entire collection of treasures around is GORGEOUS! 🙂 ~hugs, Rhonda
This does it…you have to take me shopping!!
We had rain also so the sales weren't too good. I'd love a weekend like last weekend every weekend!
Your yard sale finds post is something that I always look forward to. Those plates are absolutely stunning. The brown/beige addition makes them so special.
Although I haven't yet gone to any yard sales since we have moved two weeks ago, I did drive by two thrift stores today, so at least I know where they are.
I've been lurking for a loooong time but now I'm a "newbie" blogger so this will be my first Thrifty Treasures post. Thanks for the opportunity to participate.
You always find the BEST stuff! It's like you have a "sixth sense" where the good stuff can be found. I especially like the black tray with pink roses.
Rhoda, I'm telliing you, you just find the BEST deals…Wow! Linda
I love all the thrifty deals out there. I have a new way of looking at things especially items I can paint! I feel so powerful with a can of spray paint!
Hi Rhoda,
I LOVE yard sales and thought I would join in for the first time!
I adore your dinner plates…those are awesome!! Great finds! Thanks for hosting!
Love the plates!! You always find such neat treasures! 🙂 Hope your cookout went well despite the rain! 🙂

Rhoda, Those plates are very pretty, I can see them being used on a Tablescape Thursday!
Love old bottles with a single flower bloom in them grouped. And the whites can be used so many ways!
I'm sick of rain too! It's been real cool and rainy in NY…still waiting for hot weather! Your not alone.
Hi, girls! Wow, lots of you already out tonight, that's great. I can't wait to visit you all again to see what you found.
The cookout was great in spite of our inclement weather. The rain stopped & the sun actually came out late afternoon, so it was a lot of fun. We ate ourselves silly and of course talked a lot! 🙂
Oh my I love the first set of dishes..my first thought was a coastal tablescape with starfish. Beautiful!
Thanks for hosting .. I love seeing everyone's treasures.
We had those storms before y'all did, and our power was out for 23 hours! Did yours go out at all? Lots of trees down in our neighborhood, and a tornado ripped through part of our county just after that part of the storm came through my subdivision! Not fun!
On a happier note, I love those silver ornaments, and the first thing I saw was your reflection! : )
