Winner is: Sara from That’s Sassy! Congrats, Sara!
Back when I first started blogging, sometime in 2007, I met a girl named Liz. She blogs at Mabel’s House and I loved stopped by her blog to see her weekly musings on life, decorating, and enjoyed her general witty banter. Liz is a vintage lover and collector of old things and her cute house was evolving back then, so she was part of the decor conversations, but Liz is also a serious writer. She bats words around like nobody’s business and apparently, someone took notice, because Liz got a book deal and wrote a memoir, My (not so) Storybook Life. Liz is witty too and I always enjoy what she write.
Liz asked me awhile back if I’d like to read her book and of course I said yes! I knew it would be fun and witty and it certainly is.
A tale of friendship and faith, My (not so) Storybook Life weaves a story of Liz’s own progression of faith, as she settles down with her hubby, Matt, in their fixer upper home. She fancies themselves as a modern day Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, and compares her life to the classics that she grew up reading, Anne of Green Gables, and Pride and Prejudice, wondering why her little fairytale wasn’t turning out like the books she loved so much.
From choosing paint chips, to house disasters that we all face when buying a home, Liz’s story is the everyday woman’s woes. A story of finding contentment in the smaller things, finding blessings in it all, and the journey with her friend who finds out she has cancer at age 31, is poignant and sweet. Liz is a new mom, to daughter Jane, and her hilarious sharing of life at her house has always been a highlight of her blog. Mabel is the family schnauzer who is a challenge at times, pooping during severe storms and you can see her in the above pic from Liz’s blog.
Liz is offering to give away one more copy of her sweet and fun to read book, so if you’d like to win a copy, leave a comment here on this post. Tell me what kind of books you like to read. Are you a reader? I love books and always have.
That’s it! I’ll choose a random winner in a few days.

Thanks Rhoda! Going right now to check out her blog!

I love to read. I like fiction. I like some romance fiction if the book is clean and has no cussing or sex in it. I like Jan Karon’s books and the Quilting series. I can’t remember the author’s name because she is new to me.
I love to read! Sometimes I have more time for it than others, but I try to read some of the “top 10” books when I can. I love historical fiction & girly books. I love the library, I almost never buy a book, I always request them at the library & wait for them to come in 🙂
I just finished a book and am looking for a new one to start 🙂 My favorite type of book is historical fiction…
I usually only read fiction and such on vacation – I get too caught up and can’t put it down. But I chance to read a book of a friend of yours seems like a good reason go change that rule. Thanks for the opportunity. Take care, Laura.
I love to read and this book sounds like it’s right up my alley.

I used to be a reader…then I had kids! I still read, it is just children’s books now. This one sounds good.
Thanks, Rhoda. Always love to read about real people and their real life journeys. I’m going to get over to Liz’s place and start reading!
I love to read!! Liz’s book sounds like a fun read. I like to read Christian fiction and real life stories.
I would love to win this! Sounds like a fun read–my favorite!
I read anything and everything; cereal boxes if nothing else is to be had. Jane Austen, LM Montgomery and Laura Ingalls Wilder are my comfort books. I’d love to see how your friend reconciles herself to no having life resemble Anne’s!
I love reading historical novels, biographies, political books. This sounds like a sweet book I would love to read it.
That sounds like a winning book. Love it when people have a sense of humor about their lives. Thanks for the giveaway, Rhoda.
I love to read and you will usually find a mystery of some sort on my bedside table. I am a big I Love Lucy fan and Liz’s bool sounds like one I would enjoy!
I love to read. I used to read historical fiction but right now I love Laura Child’s tea mystery books. I’m always looking for a faith-filled book.
Thanks for offering this fun giveaway Rhoda! I LOVE to read….books to help me in my Christian growth, historical fiction, autobiographies…..even a ‘how to’ book once in a while! 🙂
