Office in Progress!
I’m so excited to have a nice office space to decorate in my new house, and I’m planning to take full advantage of the space and maximize it to the fullest. I have had the best time figuring out what I want to do in there, and the color of the walls is one of those important little details. I love green, so it was natural for me to want to use green in my office again. But this time I’m going to kick it up a notch and really have some fun in there.
Here’s one of my big inspiration pieces. These are the Blad panels from Ikea in green, and I’ve had a little crush on them for a while now. I have used them before on inspiration boards, so I figured it might be time for me to use them myself. I love the fresh greens and blues in these panels, and they will be the perfect inspiration piece to pull from, since they have all the colors I love. Now I’ll be adding some turquoise in my office as well, and that will be fun. I can’t wait to show you all my plans and see how this office evolves!
But first, here’s a sneak peek at the wall color. I chose a very similar color to the ones on the Chip It! card. This color is Fennel and I had it mixed in HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams satin paint. I had seen this color used in someone’s home and fell in love with it. Finding a good green can sometimes be hard, but using the Chip It! tool can help you narrow down your choices.
Cutting in around the ceiling and windows. That red will soon be gone.
I really love this chartreuse lime green, and it should be an invigorating color to wake me up in the morning. I want my office to be a happy space, and this will do the trick. For the closet, I’ve decided to leave off the bifold doors and let it all be open. I have plans to add a storage piece in there with big baskets to help keep me organized. And I’m going to paint the inside of the closet with a turquoise color. That will really liven up my office space!
Be sure to try out the Chip It! button so you’ll have it handy when you see an inspiration pic you want to try out. You can get the Chip It! button just like the Pin It button for Pinterest. First you drag the Chip It! button to your toolbar:
Whenever you spot a photo you like online, just click the Chip It! button and then click the photo itself. Instantly, you get the picture’s paint colors. Try it out and see how you like it. It’s fun to see all those pretty colors in one palette to get that inspiration flowing.
For a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card and a $200 Sherwin-Williams gift card, tell me about an image you’d like to “chip” (include a link to the image, if you like!).

Love your color choice and am excited for your new office space!
I would love to chip a pic of some great fabric I have.
Dear Rhoda,
I am inspired by the colors in a recent shot I took of my daughter playing pioneer-girl. There was the blue of her apron, the peanut-butter brown of the crunchy leaves, a dot of dandelion yellow, the orangey-brown of a loaf of bread and a splash of bright red in her dress. I would totally Chip it! The image can be found here: http://theprairiehen.blogspot.com/2012/07/summer-on-prairie.html
Love,

I would love to chip some vintage fabric I have that was once a set of curtains for a cousin of mine (probably 1960’s) that I have now made an apron out of but still have a bit left! 🙂
I have been wanting to use this and didn’t really know how. I LOVE color and will be happily chipping it…thanks for the button. I really love the colors in The Lettered Cottage kitchen…maybe I will chip that first!! Thanks!!
I love the colors in the peony picture:

Love the panels! Can wait to see the color finished. I’m gonna use the Chip It! tool in my bedroom.
Rhoda, your office is going to be beautiful and full of energy! I would like to chip a photo taken in the Bahamas. I love the blue-green color of the water in the Caribbean.
I love this idea….most definitely have to add the chip it tool! I’d love to “chip” a photo I have of the beautiful shore in Northern California near Big Sur.
I would love to see a chipit color of a kitchen I’ve loved in a magazine for years! Thatis such a cool feature.
I’d choose an image of the ocean and dunes covered in beachgrass set against blue skies filled with fluffy white clouds!
Hi Rhoda,
I love the Fennel color and am also a huge fan of green! Is it a Sherwin Williams color, or is it from somewhere else and you had it mixed at SW? The only color I could find that was similar was called Fennel Seed by Benjamin Moore. I really love the color and would like to know where to find it!
I love following your house renovation!
Gina, it is not a SW color, but I had it mixed there. They had it in their computer and pulled it right up, so I’m sure you could do the same at your local Sherwin Williams. It’s by Pratt & Lambert & I saw it at someone’s house & loved it.
I tweeted it too! https://twitter.com/SandandSisal/status/222484142477160448

I love the Chip It tool! Because they always tell you to use your wardrobe as a starting point, I Chipped this outfit at http://pinterest.com/pin/3588874672928951/ and it gave me Extra White, Heartthrob red, French Roast brown, Serious Gray, and Tricorn Black. I can imagine a gray office with all those pops of red, brown, and black. Awesome!
Also, thanks for the giveaway. Love the Blad curtains and the wall color you’ve chosen!
I would love to chip my kitchen. Need new paint job there soon!
