Hi all!
Today I’m participating in a very fun blogger challenge. I was asked a few weeks ago if I’d like to join in with a group of 5 other decorating bloggers in an Olioboard promotion and I thought it would be fun, so I said YES! There are 6 others participating, one of which is a co-founder of Olioboard and we each chose a room that we wanted to design using the online site, Olioboard, for our mood boards.
If you haven’t tried out Olioboard yet, go on over and sign up! It’s a fun way to bring a room to life and you can get a great idea of how your room will look just by pulling elements together. I do these for my design boards. There are lots of items to choose from on the site and you can also upload your own photos from your computer or across the web, so you literally have thousands of pics to choose from. We voted on which style we wanted to do and Coastal Cottage won out. I chose to do a living room, so today you’re going to see my creation! I will pass you on to all of the other boards too so that you can see all 7 of the mood boards.
We thought this collaboration would be a great way to share readers and introduce all of our readers to some new blog finds. If you click the link in my sidebar every day, you will be taken to the next mood board to check out their amazing inspirations! If you haven’t checked out Olioboard yet, what are you waiting for? If you love putting together mood boards, this is an easy way to do it. There are millions (maybe!) of images to pull from over there and you can put together countless combos of room designs. Sort of like paper dolls for BIG girls! 🙂 All you have to do is sign up and get started.
So without further delay, here’s my mood board for a Coastal Cottage living room:
I drew a lot of inspiration from the rug you see there. After the fun time we all had at the Shaw Floors/HGTV Home challenge last month in NC, that rug stuck in my mind. In fact, you’ll be hearing a lot more about those rugs next week when I get to offer up to one of YOU a fun, fab giveway from Shaw Floors! You do NOT want to miss out on that one.
So, back to the Ikat Panel rug by Shaw Floors! There are some wonderful colors in the rug. The 2nd favorite room that I loved at our design competition, I haven’t showed you yet but will, but those girls used this beautiful rug as their backdrop to a coastal cottage room and I loved it SO much, I decided to use it in my inspiration board too. No one asked me to do this, I just like this rug a lot!
So, there you have my interpretation of a coastal cottage cozy living room, using colors that I love. I hope you like it too and got some ideas of your own. Coastal cottage is about the hottest decorating trend out right now and it is bound to cool off soon, but for now lots of folks are enjoying this laid-back, casual style.
Don’t miss out on the other rooms too, you are sure to be inspired! Next up tomorrow is Kristi with Addicted to Decorating. She’s a super talent, so go over and visit her blog too! In fact, don’t miss any of the 7 design boards for this fun event.

I love all the items you chose, but I must admit that my absolute fave is that cart table! The colors on the rug are awesome and I love how you incorporated them into the board.
Thanks for the inspiration.

I fell in love with that rug too, Rhoda (it’s the one I chose for our home). What a fun challenge! Looking forward to checking out the others! I’ve used Olioboard in the past but not recently however the reminder makes me want to get back over there to do create something fun! 😉
