On the Go with Newtons

Being a full time blogger means I’m on the go. A lot! My day to day schedule keeps me hopping from one thing to the next. It’s a fun and exciting livelihood I’ve evolved into and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m running here and there every single day. One day I’m working on the porch, another day I’m heading to a charity project or going out to lunch and shopping with blog friends. My days are varied and busy and I sure don’t have time to get bored, which is fine with me. After spending years in the corporate world, being an independent self-employed person is definitely a blessing and I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else. I love my busy life and blogging goes hand in hand with it. I do work also very hard at trying to eat healthy. I really try to pick and choose what I eat for lunch and on the go and while I love salads, cheese and crackers, or sliced turkey for lunch most days, my sweet tooth also calls out often and I have to feed it occasionally.

You know what I mean?

going to the gym

I also spend time at the gym working out and that has been part of my routine for over 30 years now. I’m so glad I started that habit all those years ago in my 20’s. It has definitely helped me with the aging process and we all know that can’t be stopped, but we can help slow it down by exercising and eating right, so that’s one of my goals in life. To eat healthy (for the most part) and to stay on a regular exercise routine. I don’t buy a lot of prepackaged foods to snack on and generally prefer nuts or fresh fruit, but I got the chance to try out Newtons’ new cookies, Fruit Thins Banana Drizzled with Dark Fudge and Fruit Thins Coconut Drizzled with Dark Fudge.

OK, so anything with chocolate on it gets my attention. Nabisco cookies

Even the bag is unique with the large letters and obvious banana and coconut inside the bags. These cookies are crisp and chocolate-y and the coconut version was my fave. They are a very tasty treat!

A few things to note about these new cookies from Newtons, they are made with whole grains, real fruit, and dark fudge with 8g of whole grains per 31g. Did you know dark chocolate is good for you? I know, that’s a plus! I love trying out new products and can vouch for these: crispy, fruity and chocolate draped. Perfect for on the go eating and I know I’m not the only one running like crazy these days. Visit newtonscookies.com to take a look at all their new Fruit Flavors and also get access to great tips. Enjoy them yourself!

Hey, Rhoda! I’m so happy I found your blog recently. I’m a GA native, living in NC now. I have to say one of my childhood favorite snacks was Fig Newton’s and Yoohoo’s. I don’t get them often anymore, but I sure do remember how good they were. I’ll have to try the new banana crisps {I’m not a coconut fan}. :o)

The only cookies my mother ever bought us as children were Fig Newtowns and Ann Page Oatmeal cookies and that was in the summer when she didnt bake.

As an adult the only packaged cookie I have ever bought were fig newtons, I will certainly give these a try when I get that sweet tooth craving. Coconut, chocolate and fig together sounds yummy.

I love eating healthier Rhoda and started a couple of years ago incorporating kale, quinoa, almonds, and other whole foods into my diet. These sound good…I’ll look for them!

HI, Cathy, mine were sent to me in the mail for review, but I would think they are in the stores now.

A paid commercial for Fig Newtons?… What a disappointing post.

Hi, Kimberly, yes I do get paid to talk about new products and I don’t apologize for it. You don’t have to buy the products or read the reviews, but this is part of how I make a living. I try to keep these minimal.

I have to agree with Kimberly! 🙁

These sound absolutely wonderful. Yes, it was the “fudge” that got my immediate attention. I am always looking for different treats to share with the Grands and these sound like they will be a hit. Thanks for sharing!

I love hearing about new products. I would rather read a blog than watch tv so I don’t usually see commercials for what’s out there. OH, and btw, my parents went to Golden Oldies in High Point for me one of the two days a month they are open (the first Tuesday and Wednesday of each month) and bought me an awesome olive basket. Thanks for blogging about Golden Oldies!

Ooh- will be on the lookout for these! When we lived in Eastern Europe, we’d buy these amazing chocolate covered dried apples from Hungary- they weren’t soggy, but crispy with a thin coating of milk or dark chocolate.

I don’t mind the paid posts at all and really like to hear about new products. I think I discovered Nectresse through you. There’s just to much out there to keep up AND I can just ignore what doesn’t suit me. Thanks for the heads up. BTW, their fruit thin cookies are fab!. CTD
P.S. You look pretty fab yourself! I’ve often wondered if you worked out regularly. My friends were always ragging on me for working out, but now that we’re all older, I’m the one without the aches and pains and so many of the other things I’d like to put off as long as possible. YOu go girl.
