Our New Wesley Hall Sofa

It was an exciting week this week as the new sofa finally arrived after waiting on it for a few months. You may remember that in the fall I went to High Point, NC to the furniture market so that I could shop for sofas. I have a design friend who lives in town and I tagged along with her to visit her favorite sofa brands and sit on them in person. I found my perfect sofa at Wesley Hall and built the sofa of my dreams with their Signature Elements upholstery collection.

It was fun to browse the furniture market and make my decision.

We actually visited Wesley Hall first and this was the one I ended up ordering. Of course, choosing fabric is a huge decision and one I thought about a lot.

This is the Signature Elements sofa that I sat on and loved. It sat great, this one was extra depth and so I ordered my sofa with the same specs as this one, except I chose different arms and legs for mine. It’s really hard to shop locally for furniture in Atlanta. We don’t have that many furniture stores that carry more higher end furniture, so sitting and trying out sofas or chairs is not that easy when you’re looking for new. We used to have more choices around here, but unless you go through a designer to the Atlanta mart or ADAC, it’s not an easy process.

My friend, Betsy, is a local designer and she orders from a local to the trade source so I went there and looked through all the hundreds of fabrics that Wesley Hall offered. I almost went with a lighter fabric again, but after Daisy, decided it was time to go darker. And I like the looks of a darker fabric too, so I went with this darker blue with the pattern on it, along with this floral fabric for the pillows that came with it. I liked how it all looked with the rug in here.

So after at least 10 years with this Lazy Boy sofa, it was time to replace it. Who remembers that Lazy Boy design event I was part of in 2013? It was such a fun event and we were all gifted a new Lazy Boy sofa, which was great!

This one unfortunately didn’t hold up that well on the cushions after a few years and we sank to the springs when we sat down and it had really gotten to be uncomfortable with hardly any support. I was lucky to work with Lazy Boy back then and I was gifted this sofa, so it was a dream for me when I lived in my fixer upper house. Believe me, we got a lot of use out of it. I passed it on to someone for free and they came and picked it up the day before the new one arrived.

It was so fun to get in the new sofa and see it in person after waiting a few months. The fabric was backordered until February I’m really happy with the fabric choice, it’s a pretty shade of slate blue. I knew it was going to be really close to the fabric on the ottoman and I really like things to contrast, so my plan is to get fabric and have someone recover this Arhaus ottoman. I’m sure I’ll chose a pattern, but not sure what I’ll get yet. I could get the floral fabric that’s on the pillows, but I’m not sure I want that much pattern. Maybe a smaller pattern.

For now we are enjoying this new Wesley Hall sofa, the most expensive sofa I’ve ever bought, but I’m sure it will be worth it. I’ve heard such good reviews on Wesley Hall and how long they last. Since Daisy is not a baby anymore, the accidents are mostly over and this sofa has performance fabric this time around, so should be a breeze to clean up.

I love the English arm and the turned legs and it is super comfortable after the old we we got rid of.

I really love this floral pillow fabric too, it works well in here.

So I’ll keep you posted on what fabric I end up with for the ottoman and I’ll get to working on that soon. Just wanted to share the new sofa and how happy with are with the choice. It’s a big decision when you buy a new sofa and I hope I won’t be doing it again ever. This one should last as long as we do!

Love Wesley Hall sofa’s. When I was still actively decorating homes for clients, I would steer towards Wesley Hall. They have great fabric choices. I love your slate blue and can’t wait to see what you pick for ottoman fabric.

Beautiful. Love the throw pillow pattern. Is it a 7 or 8ft sofa?

Thank you, it’s 95″ long, so almost 8′.

Beautiful! Enjoy your new purchase! I can’t wait to see the fabric you choose for the ottoman. I’m in the Atlanta area, and I agree with you about the lack of furniture store options we have now. Not everyone wants to decorate their homes totally from IKEA. Sometimes it pays to make a more substantial investment in pieces that will be with you for decades! Please let us know if you find a great upholsterer. I’m in Smyrna and have not had good luck with the few pieces that I’ve sent out to be re-covered. Sending you hugs!
