Twenty months and one day after Mark and I had our first date, we got married in Savannah. July 29, 2017. I mentioned 6 years ago on my blog that I hoped that I would find true love one day and that day has definitely arrived. We can’t always plan for what life may bring, but I’m so thrilled to find real love. It hasn’t been an easy journey for either of us, we’ve both been through heartache and pain in the past. To find each other now is such a wonderful time in life, even though we’re both in our 60’s now. It’s never too late for love to find you.
I didn’t get married for the first time until I was almost 32 and the 2 decades following that were filled with drama, extreme disappointment and hurt, mixed with a lot a pain ending with my last divorce that I lived out here on my blog 6 years ago. That was the most painful and devastating time of my whole life. My relationships haven’t been easy ones and to finally find a true love that’s stable and committed is the best. So please allow me to gush a bit, if you will. Mark is everything I ever hoped to find in a man. He is a Christian first, genuine, trustworthy, family man, hard working, honest, even-tempered, and faithful. He’s also witty and makes me laugh all the time, we are best friends and love spending time together. All of those things are so important to me at this stage of life and we feel very fortunate to have found each other. I love him dearly and hope that God allows us to have many years together, all the way into our Golden years. We are looking forward to a good life together, filled with love and adventure.

We stayed at the Forsyth Park Inn, a quaint B&B on Forsyth Park, famous for the beautiful fountain.

So, let’s celebrate this wedding together in Savannah! I can’t wait to share the pics with you from the photographer that was there. Let me tell you how we came about getting married in Savannah. We both decided we sure didn’t want another wedding. It wasn’t that we didn’t want family there, but we felt it wasn’t necessary, so a destination wedding seemed like a fun and simple idea. We will have a celebration party with both our families later this fall.
I began researching Savannah and learned that it’s a big wedding destination for elopements, which I didn’t really know. I knew a lot of people went there to get married, but didn’t know the eloping thing. I found a neat website called Elope to Savannah and called them for particulars. This isn’t sponsored at all, but they were so great to work with I have to mention them. We chose The Quickie, which offers the square or park (or beach) of your choice in Savannah, the wedding officiant, photographer, and bouquet of roses, all for $375. Not a bad deal for a nice and easy wedding. So that’s what we did! They were very professional and everything was set for July 29th at 10:30 in the morning at Forsyth Park. Everything went well and even though there was rain in the morning, it stopped before we had our ceremony. I’m so glad we went with a photographer, McKenzie Lee, the photographer did a fantastic job and we will treasure these photos for years to come. I had no idea who the photographer would be, but I’m so pleased with the outcome.

We opted to get married by the Rose Garden in Forsyth Park, such a lovely spot for a memorable occasion such as this. Enjoy the photos, I won’t talk all the way through them. Just know that this is such a happy time for us and I’m so happy I get to share it all with y’all, my online friends.

Mr. and Mrs.

We stayed at the Forsyth Park Inn, a charming B&B right on the park and it was a beautiful neighorhood to get married in. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. We literally walked outside and to the park to get married that morning.

We celebrated our big day with dinner at Elizabeth on 37th.

I had read good reviews and it didn’t disappoint.

Especially this delicious strawberry dessert……
I could not be happier with how the wedding and the wedding pics turned out. It was the perfect way for us to tie the knot. I’ll definitely get some of these framed for our new house. Thank you all so much for the well wishes and for being so happy with me. It’s been quite the journey to get here and even though Mark and I aren’t youngsters anymore, we still have some fun years ahead of us and I can’t wait.
Mark has 4 daughters, 2 sisters, his parents are still living just like mine, and he has 2 grandsons and 2 more babies on the way. It’s going to be fun for me to be part of a big family and that will be the icing on the cake for me. I will get to experience being a grandmother by marriage and looking forward to all that comes our way. God has been gracious to us to give us a chance at love in our 60’s and I’m going to grab the love we’ve been given and enjoy every minute, every day, and every year we have together. Love is a wonderful thing!

Rhoda,
Thanks so much for sharing your lovely photos with us. You and Mark are a beautiful couple. I liked most that you listed first that he is a Christian man. As you know, that is the most important thing. When that is the case, all else should fall into place. Wishing you many happy years together.
WOW! You two look so very happy. You look beautiful. Mark looks so happy and in love.
The pictures are some of the most gorgeous wedding pics I’ve ever seen.
Congratulations and best wishes for continued love and happiness!
As someone who found love again in her 50s (after a painful divorce), I agree 1000% – Love is better the second time around!!! It’s funny – I never thought I would find the right person for me. It seemed impossible. But God had other plans for me – his plans, his timing are always good. The joy just beams off these photos of you both. Congratulations Rhoda and Mark – we wish you all the happiness in the world!
Happiness is meant to be shared. Thanks for sharing yours! I love the photo where you are touching Mark’s face. I like to think your blog reflects who you truly are and that if I lived near you we would be friends.
Congratulations. What a beautiful love story.
So happy for you both!!
My toast to you both, may you always be as in love, as happy, and as healthy as you are today! Best wishes and thank you for sharing the lovely photos.
Rhoda,
Tears in my eyes! So happy for you both and the pictures are beautiful. I’ve mentioned a few times in commenting that you share in these personal and family posts what is truly important in life! I think your personal journey and love story also share hope and for those of us who are hoping for our love, etc., I think it’s a beautiful message!
Thank you, Jason, and I hope to share that. I have been pretty open on my blog about my personal life and if that gives others hope, that makes me happy.
Rhoda sending so many Best Wishes for both of you! You are radiant in the photos, thank you for sharing your journey!

Rhoda, I have followed your blog for a long time, and rarely ever comment but I had to say congratulations to you! You both look so in love, it’s moving and so hopeful. I wish you two all the joy and happiness in the world. God bless you! Your story reminds me of the Rascal Flatts song, “God bless the broken road”, it fits your story perfectly!
Dionne, thank you….I love that song and really have had a broken road and it’s nice to be on a calm one.
I think the sweetest love stories are the ones from later life.
Congratulations! I just found your blog not that long ago and loved it the first time I read it.
