Porches have been on my radar even more this year as I anticipate getting my own little cozy space again to make my own relaxing place. And I can’t wait!
A summer porch is such an important part of the season and living outside is a vital part of social life here in the South. We love our outdoor spaces, don’t we? With our warm weather so many months of the year, porches get a lot of use and making them pretty is a big part of that as well.
Wicker, rugs, lanterns, lamps, artwork and accessories. All of those items make for a cozy porch to enjoy with family and friends. Since my porch is not quite ready yet, I’m sharing some of my favorites from some online sources.

These colors are just happy and pretty together. White wicker is a summer staple and you can’t go wrong with it and some bright poppy fabrics.

A long porch just makes me go ahhhh! Simple white beadboard ceiling, beautiful hanging lantern, and classic rocking chairs are all that’s needed to make this space feel comfortable and inviting.

This porch is so Southern and I love, love it! The windows, the fans and inviting steps are classic.

A green door! What if I painted a green door on my gray-blue house, how would that look? I’m likin’ it! This simple little front porch speaks volumes, doesn’t it?

This one, oh this one is my fave of all of them. The shutters just make this space, don’t they? I am taking some bifold doors off 2 of my closets and I plan to take them to my porch and recycle them. Ideas, ideas!
With my collaboration with Lowes Creative Ideas blogger team, I was recently given the opportunity to interview HGTV star, designer Kristan Cunningham all about decorating for the summer months and sprucing up those outdoor spaces. Kristan is an interior designer, DIY Expert and one of the most recognizable faces in design television.
Kristan is an expert at this and I know you’ll get some great tips from listening to her take on outdoor spaces. It was fun to chat with her for a few minutes. Bear with me as you start listening to it, there was a sound delay and dorky me didn’t keep up with it at first, but I finally got the hang of it later in the interview. We got to chat a bit about my house renovation too! Hope you’ll listen in!
So, did you enjoy these porches? Now, it’s your turn!
Link up your porch whether it’s a tiny front porch, side porch, back porch, deck, patio, screened porch, whatever you’ve got, let’s see it! I know we all get inspired seeing a pretty porch all ready for summer entertaining.
Ready, set, GO!

Don’t forget to paint the ceiling blue so the haints can’t get in! Seriously, when you get ready, I have a screened porch full of plants that you may have some of. Let me know and we can get together,

Gorgeous collection! My last home had a 3 sided wrap around porch and I really miss it. But I’m really happy to have the covered patio I do now at least.
Thanks for hosting, Rhoda!

Hi Rhoda! I love the same porch that you do – the one with the shutters…its just looks so cozy and a perfect spot to curl up with a book or magazine and an iced tea…I really love these types of smallish ‘nooks’! I don’t have a porch space to show in your linky party, since we are moving next month and we have put all of our outdoor furniture aside for packing and emptied all my planters…but I will be able to get lots of ideas from the other links here and certainly I have lots of great ideas from your interview with Kristin!! Thanks for sharing and have a super week! Heather 🙂

You have shown us some great inspiration today — good for you on those louvered doors! I recycled the cruddy old shutters off my house along the back fence (see photos when I get linked up in a bit.)
Thanks as always for hosting a lovely party. I always enjoy Ms Cunningham — I have watched her “grow up” I guess you could say, on camera anyway.

Love the Southern Living porch. I’ve had it pinned for quite some time. Thank you for hosting!

Rhoda! Love this posting! My favorite place to be is on my back porch! Can’t wait to see what you do with your porch! I always love looking at other people’s porches too! Mine isn’t quite complete (just rebuilt our built-in bench (we have to wait a month for the wood to season before staining) but I just may link-up our porch anyway.
Love Kristan. I remember her from “Design on a Dime” and have watched her grow into a beautiful young woman! Loving all your porch inspiration! Thanks again for featuring my $8.00 table (the picture wasn’t the greatest) Any ideas for a cool color to paint it? Haven’t decided if it will stay inside or out.
Your new home is looking awesome and it will be interesting and inspirational to watch you decorate all the rooms!

Our next big project at our house is putting on a screened in porch. I can’t wait. I used to have one on an old house and I lived out there! Thanks for the beautiful pictures … gets me inspired!

Hi, Rhoda. I’ve been reading your blog for a while now. I saw your Summer Porch Party at Edie’s lifeingraceblog. The linky party was closed but it inspired me to post about my own special place. Thanks for sharing your blessed life.
