What’s a real man today — especially when it comes to the little things, from day-to-day manners to pitching in to help others, to high occasions such as birthdays and family reunions?

How about YOUR man?  Tell me what a REAL man is all about in your opinion.

Manners?

Pitching in?

Family and special occasions?

My idea of a real husband is one who’s willing to do the dishes, unclog toilets (hopefully not one after the other), and check in on the kids each and every single time he gets up in the middle of the night to use the toilet. And my Alfie fits the bill!

    Rhoda,
I love your post on your Real Man! As you know, my Real Man is a close match to yours. We are like papyrus leaves of ancient times, full of holes, but when placed together, we create a tablet worthy of writing “life” upon. My Real Man is strong mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally, yet sensitive in a unique way. While he believes his Real Woman’s place is in the home, he works very hard providing for our family so I can be. I’ve never had to concern myself with financial matters, as he is The Budgetmeister!!! As a father, he has taught our sons so much about God, love, responsibility, hard work, and was their primary homeschool teacher during their high school years. After 28 1/2 years, I think I’ll keep him. I am blessed to be with this old school Real Man, my sweetheart since I was 19. Just this week he sang the old 70’s song, “If I can’t have you, I don’t want nobody, baby” to me and we enjoyed a good laugh. Neither of us look like the one we fell in love with but God has blessed our marriage and family in spite of ourselves and I praise Him for this.

Not trying too hard. Not being macho. Just being himself and not caring what others think about it. Being open and honest. So hard to put into words but most women know it when they meet one.

My husband is a real man. He takes care of our kids while I am at work. He tries to take car of us and puts up with me. I am a USMC and that is work.

For me it’s a touch of old fashioned manners, like holding the door open, mixed with letting me be strong. Sense of humor. Doesn’t take longer than me to get ready. Active and loves the outdoors. Love animals. And can sing a play the guitar.

A real man is one who is there through thick and thin and always supports the family.

Hmmmm.. sooo many things come to mind. A real man doesn’t walk out on his children (regardless of the relationship he has with their mother).

A real man doesn’t need to be taken to court to pay child support.

A real man provides for his family emotionally, as well as financially. He does what he can to protect them from harm, support them, love them, and help them become their best selves.

A real man opens doors for a lady (sorry, I’m old-school).

A real man realizes that sometimes he needs to put someone else’s needs above his own.

A real man is secure enough in himself to cry, act silly, whatever from time to time. Real men aren’t macho. Scared little boys play macho.

A real man leads by example. A real man has honor and integrity and doesn’t just tell his kids what to do, but also does it!

What is a real man? A man who takes time out of his busy schedule to invest in his children

A Real Man is one who embraces chivalry – opening doors, bringing home flowers, speaking with respect

In my opinion, a real man should be responsible, considerate, open-minded, and down-to-earth. An ideal husband would be one who’s willing to share household chores, like cooking and cleaning.
