Queen of Hearts Antique Mall

Let’s start this Saturday with the jewelry giveaway winner:

Ashley from Ashley’s Busy is the winner! Congrats Ashley, please email me and I’ll put you in touch with Jennifer to claim your prize.

My niece, Lawyer Lauren, is visiting some friends here in Birmingham this weekend and she and I are going yardsaling this morning. No telling what we’ll get into! Breakfast after and I’m looking forward to seeing my special girl.

On my recent visit home to Marietta, GA, my sister, mom and I hit a local antique mall that I had not been to before. I think they opened around the same time I moved to Birmingham a few years ago. It was fun to browse and see what they had and I would recommend it for you Atlanta girls who want a place to browse antiques. They are on Canton Hwy. in Marietta.

I thought this pair of marble topped end tables was really pretty, can’t remember how much they were, but it was reasonable. Very different look.

IMG_5814

A huge old piece, not sure what it was used for, but look at all those drawers.

IMG_5815

Pretty red and white pillows.

IMG_5816

An old scale, this one was $22, not a bad price. Love the color, but I didn’t get it.

IMG_5817

A very old typewriter, even before MY time.

IMG_5818

Old vanity.

IMG_5819

White cottagey table and chairs.

IMG_5820

Cute bird figure for $6.

IMG_5822

Loved this old pediment, but it was over $200, too pricey for me. I can see this over a doorway.

IMG_5821

Old tins.

IMG_5823

A shabby old kitchen piece.

IMG_5824

A pretty lamp.

IMG_5826

I loved this oil painting and thought the colors were so pretty.

IMG_5827

A different flying bunny, he was cute. Looks like that price tag is $36, way more than I would pay.

IMG_5828

Blue and white dishes, love the jolt of yellow in this pic.

IMG_5830

I loved this old framed watercolor from Paris.

IMG_5832

And finally, colorful Fiesta ware is always abundant at antique shops. Can’t you see those 3 aqua pieces grouped on a hutch? Gorgeous!

It was very fun to browse and this is where my sister got all her creamware pieces that I showed in my other post. She found several things all in one afternoon, a great start to her collection too.

Hope you enjoyed shopping with the girls!

Love the photo of the basket of red and white pillows and the photo of the blue dishes with the pops of yellow. Great color combos and the photos have me thinking about where I can make some changes in my house!

I love those black and marble end tables!! When we go to Branson in November , for the Christmas lights, I am hoping to stop in Ozark, MO. Wonderful antique malls there!

We’re working on my little thrifty dresser this weekend. If we get at least some of it finished I’ll publish a progress report, for Monday. Three year old g’son D is spending this afternoon and tonight with us, so that trumps furniture painting!

I love the blue and white dishes with the bright yellow as accents! The red and white pillows are great, too. They have me thinking of where I could put a little more red in my house! Thanks for the inspiration today!

Queen of Hearts! My favorite antique mall and practically in my backyard. Really. Like 4 or 5 miles from my house. I usually combine it with a stop at Old Time Pottery next door. I also love Big Shanty antique mall over on Cobb Pkwy in Kennesaw. Have you been there?

I had no idea about this place but found out it’s about 25 minutes from me. Of course I really have no reason to go to that area of town.
When I saw the picture of the kitchen scale I knew I had to make the trip up there. I have been looking for an old kitchen scale for a while, even when we went on vacation a few weeks ago I went looking, but never could find one.
I didn’t see the green one but got a black one and it look’s great in my kitchen. I got a few other things also all from one seller, love her stuff.
Thanks again you made my day.

    Hi Rhoda,

Thanks so much for sharing all those beautiful items you had the pleasure to see. I absolutely LOVE that big piece with all the drawers. I’d love to have it in my study that we are working on putting together but I doubt seriously that big ole thing would fit. It sure is gorgeous though, isn’t it?

I love your new blog, too, it is wonderful – just like the old one. I have to say that your blog is still my favorite out of every one that I’ve ever seen. Keep all this good stuff coming, my friend!

    Many, many blessings,

    Teresa <

I think that large piece was part of an old post office. Each box would have an address and they post master would just hand you your mail.

I just dont know how you do it girlfriend….I would have to back my truck up {if I had one} and take it all home {if I had the money} and call it a day! I guess you are so good at what you do that you know a good thing when you see it. I’m in search of an old wind up clock…and a wooden bird cage…no luck just yet but the time will come. Im also on the look out for yard sticks. I have a neat DYI using them on Monday. Hope you come by and take a peek. Susie~
