Hi, friends!
The New Year is a great time to think about refreshing your closet. Since we’re all getting organized this time of year, why not take the time to go through your closet and clean it out. What isn’t working and what do you need to get rid of? We all have things hanging in our closet that we aren’t wearing anymore. I know I do! I have to periodically go through my closet and clear out the old things that I just don’t wear anymore to make room for fresher pieces.
If you’re like me, I tend to have several favorite things that I grab most of the time, so why keep those things that don’t make us happy? And we all know that how we feel in our clothes is the number one thing that makes us happy when we get dressed and look in the mirror. If we don’t feel cute or pretty, we aren’t going to wear that thing! Am I right?
I’m back today partnering with thredUP, the largest online thrift store, with over 35 thousand brands at up to 90% off retail. Wait til you see the bargains I just got! I’ve shared them before, but it’s always a thrill to shop at thredUP and find those bargains to refresh my wardrobe every so often.
It’s really easy to shop at thredUP once you get used to it. You can filter by size, price, and brand to find those things that really are “you”, making it easy to find great bargains. And the best thing is shipping is free on qualified orders and most items can be returned. You can get your money back on returns if you pay for return shipping. If you don’t want to pay return shipping, you can get thredUP store credit. (just watch for the “final sale” items noted) With the bargains you’ll find, you won’t mind that part!
Clothing comes in a boutique like polka dot box, all wrapped up nice and neat and it’s so fun to open the box and see what’s in there. I got some great things that I can’t wait to share with you!
I ordered 2 additional scarves to add to my closet, since I love having different scarves to mix up my looks. The coral pink one is from Bloomingdales and retailed for $36, but on thredUP it was only $8.99 and is a nice wool scarf. The one on the right doesn’t have a tag, but it also sold for $8.99 and I love the blue and black mix on that one. Fun additions to my clothing!
First up, this DKNY shirt dress retailed for $238. Would I ever pay that for something like this? No, of course not! But at $47.99, it was a good value for me. It was listed as a dress, but I look at these shorter dresses as tunics that I can wear with boots.
I love plaid flannel and I love the color, so this one was perfect for me. Pairing it with gray tights and my gray boots, it is a perfect Winter outfit with some color. I added simple jewelry to dress it up.
My sweet man took pics for me and he’s getting really good at being my photographer.
It was fun taking some outdoor shots in downtown Acworth, perfect backdrop for photos. Henry’s is one of our very favorite restaurants in our new little town.
This will be a perfect in between outfit, between Winter and Spring, lightweight but can be layered with a coat as well. Items from thredUP go through a 12 point quality inspection, so you know you’re getting good quality clothing at a fraction of the price that retail offers.
I’ve never had a problem with anything I’ve bought at thredUP and I sure don’t have a problem shopping second hand clothing. It makes me very happy to find bargains and I bet you feel the same way!
Next outfit is a dress and sweater jacket from Chico’s. There are a lot of Chico’s clothing on thredUP and I love the quality and feel of their items. This Travelers by Chico’s cardigan retailed for $149, but sold for $29.99 on thredUP. The black and white dress also Travelers by Chico’s retailed for $121, but sold on thredUP for $20.99!
What a deal!
This coral red shade is so pretty and I know I can mix it with so many other things too. I can see this with white jeans in the Spring.
With my love of black and white, it’s a natural addition to my closet. Paired with heeled black boots and tights, it’s a very cute outfit for many occasions and this one will be perfect in the spring as well.
I felt very pretty and stylish in this one!
So, that’s a look at my latest haul from thredUP! I love sharing them with all of you, because I truly love how many bargains they have and the fact that you can find such great brands at a fraction of retail pricing. I hardly ever shop some of these stores in person, but when I can pick up a great brand name so inexpensively, it’s a no brainer. These quality clothing items last for years too!
My niece Lauren, was just in town, and she was wearing a pretty sweater dress that she got from thredUP. She told me that since she found thredUP through my blog, she’s been shopping there a lot and adding some great items to her working woman closet. I was very happy to hear that!

I love the clothes you wear. Funny you matched the pink Henry sign :). We need to meet there soon! I will try ThredUp. Thanks for sharing!
Everything is beautiful. Particularly like the pop of color in the sweater with the black and white outfit.
I and many of my friends have black or black and white as a staple in our wardrobe, but that can be blah….love the idea of this color with it. Loved your finds at thrift store yesterday…you mentioned wanting to be cozy at home…here is a recommendation: https://www.target.com/p/women-s-pajama-pants-gilligan-o-malley-153-gray-m/-/A-51915290#lnk=sametab Incredibly comfortable lounge pants…more comfortable that the comfy ones I bought at Gap–but you can’t wear these in public, though you would want to!
THanks, Melanie, those do look comfy. I’ll have to see how long they are, some of those type pants are always too short for me.
This code doesn’t not work . Is this for first time buyers, because it doesn’t work for me.
HI, Bev, yes it is only for first time buyers, sorry!
Thanks
I love both those outfits. As far was cleaning out my closets that was something I did months ago since dropping 70 lbs it was much needed long before the first of the yr. Thanks for sharing those great outfits.
Congrats, Pam, that’s a lot of weight to lose!
I really love this black and white dress on you and the coral sweater. Beautiful outfit!
Hi Rhoda,
I love the black dress and the red sweater on you. I would not have thought to pair them together, but it is a great look … very upscale and sophisticated. I’ve never shopped at Chicos because the sizing (1,2,3…) throws me off, but guess I need to try again. I always enjoy your Wednesday posts.
Best wishes from Lindy
Thank you, Lindy, I’ve figured out that I’m a 0 at Chico’s and that size works well for me. I know, it’s weird sizing!
You look great in both outfits. Coral is your color. I’m going to have to check out ThredUp!
I haven’t tried ThredUp, but I have started shopping at consignment stores more. I am partial the Clothes Mentor here in Charlotte. I have bought several garments from them that still had tags from Talbots. Great place to resell and get something new.
I loved this post. It would great if sometime Lauren could post some of her work clothes she’s bought there, although like you, she’d look good in a sack! : )
HI, Teresa, I’ll have to ask her about that. She has great taste and looks great in anything too.
I have been shopping on Thredup since you first blogged about it. I have bought many pieces. This is my favorite online clothing shop, the clothes are amazing and if you have to return something they make it so easy! I recommend it to all my friends and family.
Rhoda, you amazing in your outfits!
HI, Jeri, I’m so glad you like it too!
Hi Rhoda, yes Mark is quite the photographer. The clothes are very complimentary and the coral is your color. Would love to see you in Henry’s sometime. By the way your complexion is beautiful, are you doing anything special.
Thank you Sue, he does a great job taking my photos. And thank you on the skin compliment. Honestly, I just cleanse and moisturize my face and use a night cream and some serums, but I don’t stick to any one product for that long. I’d love to find something that I felt was worth spending money on.
Rhonda – I LOVE the second black and white dress and the coral sweater! Beautiful. Never heard of thredUp so I will check them out, thanks for sharing. Also did you link your gray boots? they are awesome too!
HI, Debbie, the boots are 2 years old, so no longer available, sadly.
Everything looks SO GOOD on you!!! I am weird about buying clothing online – I do shop consignments stores but I like that I can try it on and decide right then and there . I am a plus size (14) and man it is hard to find things that look good on me :(:( That shirt dress is soooo cute! WOW $238??? I can’t imagine anyone buying that for regular price, you got a great deal on that one.
Thanks for sharing! I love your fashion posts :):)
Thank you, Diane, I think it can be trial and error, but if you get familiar with how certain brands fit you, you can shop with more assurance that it probably will fit you when you get it. I’ve had good luck with most everything I’ve got off thredUP.
Downtown Acworth is the perfect spot for pictures. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been to Henry’s since I’ve moved towards Athens. Always had the shrimp n grits. The hush puppies are divine! I’ll have to give ThredUp a try.
Rhoda,
I have good skin EXCEPT the worst thing of all….vertical lines above my lip…I have never smoked and feel I look like a smoker…any product ideas? Botox is temporary, so no on that.
Hi, Melanie, I feel ya, because I have them too. I hate those lines! I’m not sure what to do with them to help them look better. It seems to be something we all deal with as we age.
I’ve gotten several orders from THREDUP. Some I’ve kept, some I’ve sent back. But everything was in good condition. I noticed they now offer Goody Boxes which look something like StitchFix but with consignment items instead of brand new! You only pay for what you keep and the $20 fee is applied to anything you purchase. So I am giving one of those boxes a try! Can’t wait to see what they send!
Hey, Barbara, I haven’t seen those Goody boxes, that sounds fun too!
Great looking outfits!!
