Sally Ann Revisited

Taking a break from Feature Friday, I thought I share this with ya’ll! Stopping by Sally Ann’s once again, everything that I showed you in the last visit by here was gone and in its place, all different stuff. Amazing the turnover in these thriftstores. So let’s see some promising items in this trip:
Picture 001

Cute, cute Grandma chair was $50. Now to be honest, it wasn’t very comfortable, it had springs in the back and seat that were long gone, so some work would need to be done to make it really a cozy chair, but oh the lines on this beauty.  Don’t you agree?

Picture 004

I can totally see this dining room set painted up and brought to life again.  New fabric, paint and wow, what a difference that would make.  This set for all these pieces was $400, really not bad at all if you were looking for a fixer upper.

Picture 005

Check out the details on the table apron.  Darling! Picture 006

Cute little stool for $20, another great candidate for an update.

Picture 007

Do you remember THIS pattern from over 10 years ago, I think Waverly Queensland, isn’t that right?  I saw this fabric on SO many sofas and family rooms back then.  It was a pretty fabric, but I wouldn’t want to have to decorate around it for very long.  That’s why I stick with neutrals on a sofa. No regrets!  Speaking of neutral sofas….

Picture 008

Now this was a deal.  Ethan Allen sofa for $200, covered in a pretty linen like fabric and in really great shape.  I used to work for Ethan Allen, so know their prices well and believe me, that was a steal.  Someone was in there after I was and it was already snagged within days of me taking this pic and I’m totally not surprised.

Picture 009

Someone got a great deal!

Picture 011

This cute coffee table at $20 would be so cute painted white and spruced up.  It’s just begging to be saved.

Picture 013

This fairly large framed print for $3, in a nicely detailed frame would make a fab chalkboard, I thought.   Just spray right over that old pic, which wasn’t anything special.  I didn’t even mind the color, although it could easily be changed too.

So, that’s some of the bargains I saw at Sally Ann’s last time I was there. I’m sure next time I go in, all of these treasures will be gone and there will be a whole slew of new things in for the taking.

Did you get your thrifty fix on today?!

There are 2 BIG neighborhood sales going on Saturday a.m. and I can hardly wait to see what’s out there. How about you?

For your reading pleasure, here are some interesting articles you might find entertaining around the blogosphere:

Will a blog carnival increase my traffic?

Have you tried cooking with quinoa yet? Apparently, it’s really good for you and I’m just finding out what this is, do you know?  (psst, it’s pronounced keen-wa).

$100 question: What 5 items would you put in your childhood time capsule? Leave a comment over there (not here)  for a chance to win! Just for kicks, here’s the answer I left on the post:

1.  My Barbie doll (which I blogged about in my first couple of months)
2.  Pez dispenser
3.  Nancy Drew books
4.  Clip on roller skates w/key
5.  A bag of penny candy! 50 cents bought a whole bunch of it.

Guess I’m dating myself now. Ha!

My five items I would put from my childhood are:
1.My Dawn Dolls. Love those little dolls and the high fashion they wore.
    2. My Suzy homemaker oven. To me it was better than my friend’s easy bake oven.

    3. Wacky Packages. My husband and I recently discovered that we both had a love as a child collecting Wacky Packages. We are bummed that we both don’t have our collections anymore.

    4. Pixie Sticks- The best sour candy on the planet.

    5. Bosco chocolate syrup! Remember that one. So much better tasting than Hershey’s in milk!

Great dining room set, Rhoda! I agree, I can totally see that fixed up and looking great. I had a sofa very much like that red floral only mine was blue! Yes, it was about 10-15 years old and I just had it recovered with a white washable slipcover. Love it now!

I had that red waverly fabric on my couch up until last year. That particular couch and coordinating chair were seriously the most comfortable things ever! I held on as long as possible!!

    Hi Rhoda!
I’d love to go on a shopping trip with you – you always find the deals!
Love your chair makeover – perfect for your hubby, hope he adores you for it!
Quinoa is tasty and doesn’t take long to cook. Very nutritious. Something a mom would make the kids eat…
Interesting to think about the time capsule. I’ll have to go visit after I give that some more thought. There are so many things that come to mind!
    Have a wonderful weekend.

We could so do damage if we were shopping together! I call it “junkn'” and it’s one of my favorite activites. I love getting lost in a thrift store, and the digging is the best part!
    Thanks for sharing your finds.
