Today, I’m sharing the last decorated Christmas space in my house. Â I was happy to be featured over at 11 Magnolia Lane in their Housewalk this week, so I hope you’ll stop over there and visit the other blogs.
My favorite memories as a child are pulling out the Shiny Brite ornaments and decorating our family tree. Those ornaments were not expensive, in fact those were very inexpensive growing up and could be bought at Woolworth’s and other shopping places. Â But, now they are collectibles and not easy to find anymore. I’m so glad my mother passed them along to me and I’ll be passing them along to Lauren, when I can’t use them anymore.
Today, I’m sharing my happy tabletop tree in the den. It’s a sweet little tree that just adds a bit of sparkle to that space and makes me especially smile when I see it covered in Shiny Brites.

Vintage Shiny Brite Ornaments
This year I decided to hang them on my little tree in the den. Â It’s the perfect size to fill up with Shiny Brites. Â Many of these are from my childhood, but I’ve added a few others collected along the way. Â Extra bonus! I love how the tree looks with my new drapes, picking up all those colors.
I filled up this old silverware caddy with extras for some color and bling.
All of these colors make me happy and bring back such memories of childhood.
There’s nothing better than Shiny Brites!
My little tabletop tree all aglow at night.
Here’s a look at the other side of the room, with my built-in Billy bookcases. Â Love this little corner!
Merry Christmas to you all!
I’ll also share some new plants in the den from Costa Farms. Â Since winter is officially here, I’ve been bringing in all my porch plants so the den is the landing spot for all of them as well. This Elephant’s ear is really a neat plant and doing well on my side table. Â I’m exploding with plants right now and hope to keep them happy until spring, when I can put some of them back outside again!
I always love a Birds Nest fern, they are gorgeous.
Succulent in the window.
Bromeliads are beautiful to decorate with during the Holidays too, these are from Costa Farms.
Earth Star and Devils Backbone planted together are a nice grouping.
Have a wonderful Thursday and I appreciate you all stopping by today!
I love little sparkly tree!!
This cinched it – I’m going to collect Shiny Brites! I love all the colors. 🙂
Love all of your plants you brought in! Your house looks beautiful for Christmas. thanks for sharing!
My earliest memories of Christmas were of my mother being so excited that her Grandmother handed down her Shiny Brights. I loved those ornaments! I have since purchased my own new ones, but the old original shiny’s are my favorites! Thanks for the memories!
One of my favorite memories too!! Love this tree! Merry Christmas to you and your sweet family!!
I adore this tree Rhoda! The old shiny brites truly speak to me. Your new drapes are just fantastic. May the peace and joy of the season be yours.

Love the shiny brights in the den!! It looks wonderful
Rhoda, I, too, cherish my Shiny Brite ornaments from my childhood that my Momma passed on too me. They now have a small table top with all their grands and great grand pics on it to enjoy. Your table top tree is just gorgeous and your new drapes are stunning!!!!!!!!! Hope you and yours have a blessed and joy filled ChristMas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blessings, Cindy
That little tree with its Shiny Brites is a sweet memory trigger. Memories of the wonderment, awe, and anticipation of a child in the midst of the most important celebration of the year. Thanks, Rhoda.
Love Shiny Brites (though I didn’t realize that’s what they were called until I read your post). I’ve always loved these ornaments and my grandma gave them to my mom and dad – this is the first year I borrowed some from my mom to put on our tree and I love them! Your tree looks adorable and love the colors.
Thank you! I have 4 dozen Shiney Brights stored in my attic. Hopefully my remodel will be complete so I can display them next Christmas. I love your curtains. I’d like some information on them, if you wouldn’t mind.
Hi,Annette, thanks so much! The curtain fabric is by Richloom and called Lucy Eden. I had a local workroom sew them for me.
I just picked up a box of Shiny Brite ornaments at TJMaxx last night for $12.99. They still make them – you may want to check out your TJMaxx!
Hi, Mere, I’ve seen those too & eventually they will be the collectibles of the future. The old ones have the patina you can’t get in the new ones.
