Spraying Lattice with HomeRight and Giveaway!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!  We are busy today celebrating my sweet mom and I’m going to do a whole post about our day together.  This year, we have that baby girl addition to our Mother’s Day pics, so that is going to be fun.

The last job to be done on my house painting was finishing up the back stairs and the lattice around the porch.  My dad and I had started staining it last fall when we finished that project, but winter weather stopped the progress and so it sat for a few months.  Then I got the house painted and knew that the lattice was the last little thing on that paint list, so I tackled it last week with a handy gadget that I’m trying out from HomeRight.  HomeRight has lots of spray painting tools that gets the job done a lot faster.  I’ve used their paint sticks before to paint a ceiling and this time the heavy duty paint sprayer made quick work of the lattice.  I’ve painted lattice before with a roller and brush and man, is that NOT FUN.

So, this time, it was a lot lot faster and I was so happy to use the sprayer on it.

HomeRight has been a Haven sponsor and it’s been great to have a partnership with them. They sent me this sprayer to try out and believe me, I was happy to do it.

I’ve used a sprayer before and they do make quick work of a large area like a ceiling.  This one was easy to operate and hold.  I ended up filling the canister about 5 times to get my lattice painted.  Be sure and read the directions when you get a sprayer or any kind of tool like this.  You have to follow the directions.  As much as I don’t like to read directions, I’ve learned that you must do that in order to have a tool operate correctly.

I used a solid stain from Cabot on my lattice and back stairs and it should last a long time.  Luckily the color I had already chosen before I chose my house color worked out perfectly, a dark gray.  The canister holds enough paint to spray a pretty good section and then you just have to keep filling it.  They recommend that you add water and I added about 1/2 cup of water each time I added more stain to the container.

I used a piece of cardboard to keep it from overspraying my siding and that worked pretty well.  I just moved along the top, spraying with the cardboard and then went back and filled in the middle and bottom.

The HomeRight Sprayer sprays out fairly even and consistently and covers a lot of area at a time.  I angled the sprayer and got the edges of the lattice too and before I knew it, it was almost covered.

Moving along, the front side was finished in no time flat.

I pulled some grass away from the bottom to spray that bottom piece of wood and will go back with a paintbrush to touch up as needed.  I tried not to get too close to the white trim and will  have a little bit of touching up to do with the paintbrush but overall it covered everything really well.

I turned the corner and finished up the end too.

And finally, the lattice is all stained and looking good with the rest of the freshly painted house.  This house has definitely come alive now.

back of house

Here’s the house just before I got it painted, so you can see the difference.

back of house

The entire backside of the house is looking great!  I still have to clean up the sawhorses and work on this backyard eventually, but I’m happy to be this far.  The little door cover my dad built got painted white when the painters were here, so it looks a lot better too.

I definitely loved using the HomeRight sprayer for this job and it really made it go fast.  Now, there is one thing about using a paint sprayer like this.  CLEAN UP has to be done.   That’s the hardest part about using one of these.  I’m not gonna lie, that part is NOT fun, but it’s necessary if you’re using a sprayer like this.  I will say it was totally worth the effort of cleaning it up in the time I saved by spraying it.  It took me about 45 minutes in all to take it all apart, clean all the components and dry them off.  So, overall that’s not too bad.  The paint doesn’t just wash out, but by the time I was done, it was all dried on and had to be scrubbed off the outside of the canister and out of the little parts too.  So, be prepared for that part!

Now, the fun part!  One of YOU will get to win a HomeRight Heavy Duty Titanium sprayer too!  I can’t wait to share this with one of you too and you’ll get to try it out on your own paint project.  I loved using it and will definitely use it again.  I can see using this on a piece of furniture to get nice coverage.  And lattice is a no brainer, totally time saving for that job!

The giveaway winners for the Flowers book and the Waverly garden accessories giveaway have both been posted. You can always see who won by going back to the post and looking at the Rafflecopter widget. They automatically get posted there when I choose the random winner and email them.

Note:  This is a sponsored post from HomeRight.  I received compensation and a paint sprayer to use and share my experience with my readers.
