Without a doubt, paint is my favorite tool that I use to make dramatic transformations and changes to my rooms. Whether it’s painting the walls or painting a piece of furniture or small accessory, paint is the quickest and easiest way to update a space and it works every single time. I’m working on making some fun changes to my den and am adding a library nook in there, as well as a couple of new furniture pieces. With space on the wall to fill, I found a really cute wood console table at a local antiques store and for $89, knew it would be a good candidate for changing the color. It was painted a light yellow color and I knew that a bolder color would bring it out even more and look great in my den. Using Glidden paint from The Home Depot, I made over this little console table and it really is going to fit in my space so nicely now. Paint makes such a huge difference. If you think you can’t paint a piece of furniture, I’m here to tell you that you can! Anyone can paint. Don’t let fear stop you from picking up a quart of paint and just doing it.
I chose a pretty pinky coral red color for my console table. With the aqua blue shades I have in this room, I wanted to bring in another accent color that would liven up the room and this one should do it. I think it’s going to be fun to sprinkle this coral red around the room and lighten up the rest of the room. The color I chose is Painted Desert Red by Glidden, available at The Home Depot.
Using a brush and foam roller, I started rolling on paint, going over what was already on the piece. I didn’t prime since it had a nice coat of paint already and this paint should stick fine to the existing surface without a lot of prep. I don’t usually worry too much about pieces like this getting a lot of wear and tear, so the Satin should be fine and stick well.
After one coat, it was looking good. I liked the color a lot. I ended up doing 3 coats on most of it because red is like that. It takes a few coats to get the depth in a deeper color like reds and pinks.
And here’s the table AFTER! I love how pretty it looks with the turquoise shades of the lamp and basket. I’m using some accessories that I got from Birch Lane and I’ll tell you more about all of that later. I’ll do another post on this entire corner showing all the details. It’s hard to completely capture the color in pics and it is deeper in person.
Color makes all the difference in a room and I know I’ll enjoy this coral pinky red in here. I’m brightening up my den and going with a lighter look. Glidden has a simplified paint palette that is easy to navigate and find the perfect color for your project.
I always talk about the power of paint and it really is such a quick way to make a difference. Painting an old piece of furniture takes just a few hours and then you have a new beginning to a space. If you’re painting a whole room, the Glidden Color my Room tool is really fun to use. A great way to get a visual before you paint! MyColortopia is all about making painting fun, easy, and rewarding. They will help you choose the right colors for your project, guide you through the painting process, and get you to colorful results you’ll love. Color can spark a mood and feeling in a room and that’s why I love paint so much. It’s such an easy way to get change and find new inspiration in your spaces. An accent color can take a room to a whole new level. I chose this pinky coral color because I thought it would be such a nice contrast with the soft blues I have in this room and it’s easy on the eye. I put together a Pinterest board with my inspiration color and it’s fun to see an inspiration color all in one spot, so you can really soak it in before you commit.

I think I could DIY a small table that we have had for a few years to give it an updated look!
I have some bookshelves that need painting…I would like to do the back wall on them with a “pop” of color. I love the color of your table by the way!
Master bedroom headboard!
I’m eager to paint our dining room table. Maybe white on the bottom and beautiful wood on the top.
I just painted my laundry room walls but need to tackle painting the ceiling and cabinets in there too. Painting is my most favorite way to update things too.
I’m going to paint bookshelves. Your table looks great.
OK, where do I start. I have a wrought iron outdoor table and chairs that could use another coat of black paint, a bedside table crying out for a fun redo, and lots of outdoor pots to liven up. The gift card would sure be the motivation I need to get started!! Love your blog and all your projects!
I’m painting large wooden candlesticks and re painting a kitchen table.
I would love to fix up (and paint!) our nasty end tables. They could surely use it!
I have a few…an old dilapidated bookcase that I am going to bring back to life, a pedestal side table from my grandmothers house, and a cout little corner bench for which I will also make a new cushion.
*cute. that is, cute little corner bench
A dresser and a nightstand from the 50s that’s was brought here from Europe by my mother.
I have a bedside table that needs paint. I’ve covered it with a tapestry because it’s so ugly! Thank you.
I’m painting my son’s twin beds so they can transition to his little sister’s princess room.
I have several antique oak pieces with a slight mission look to them. They use to look quaint but now just look stodgy. New paint and hardware will bring them into this century. Leaning towards a deep navy/cobalt shade with raw brass hardware.
I am currently painting my bathroom and both my laundry room and foyer need paint. I love using Glidden Duo. It’s cheaper than Behr and still has great coverage. Thanks for the giveaway!
I have a vintage desk that I painted pink several years ago and I am ready for a change. Actually I have a lot of furniture I need to repaint and change the color palette.
I have a small hutch I want to paint. I am going to paint the back of the shelves a different color than the rest of it. It’s all sanded and ready to go, just can’t decide on colors……
I have a worn coffee table that needs to be painted. Would use the gift card to refinish it and a few other pieces around the house. My husband worked in a lumber yard while he was in university. He has always said Glidden is as good as the more expensive paints. Soooo, we use Glidden.
I want to paint my kitchen cabinets. They desperately need a new look.
I have an old dresser in the guest room that I would like to paint in a color that goes with a spa theme.
