S

haring a bit of exciting news with all of you that I mentioned earlier, but wanted to give you all the details, I’ve joined the Open Sky Project and am excited that they approached me about this opportunity.  Open Sky, out of New York,  is a unique site that features online stores from “experts” in their field and they become “shopkeepers” on the site, selling items that they believe in and that they think would be of interest to readers and other online shoppers.  Most of the shopkeepers are bloggers too, with varying ranges of interests, from Home, to beauty products, to Cooking and Gardening.

From Open Sky:

OpenSky connects you to experts and the products they love and use.

We call our experts Shopkeepers and together we’re bringing humanity back to shopping.

We believe that when you do and share what you love, and work together with like-minded people, you thrive.

Welcome to Main Street.

So, I hope you’ll get excited with me too, as I get my little online shop stocked up with some fun and cost effective products.  I have no idea what all will go in there, but one thing at the top of the list is beadboard wallpaper.  I so believe in that product and would love to share it with everyone.  If you have any ideas for me on what I should think about adding to the shop, I’m all ears!  This is all new to me and I can’t wait to see what happens with it.

I will share in any profits that the online shop may get, so I wanted you to be aware of that too, as I look for fun and useful home products that I think all of you may enjoy too.  And of course, I will keep budget in mind as I look at products to add.   Another of my blog friends, Lauren, from Pure Style Home has just joined Open Sky too, so I’m happy to see another blog buddy over there.

There are only 6 items in my shop now, but I’m happy to say that beadboard wallpaper is there and ready to go, so if you’re looking to buy this wonderful wallpaper, please buy it from me! Yippee!!  Several of you have asked about it and I’m so excited that we were able to source this directly from Graham-Brown.  I have been looking at other vendors and I’m hoping to get many more neat accessories and home items in there as time goes on.  You will see that all the pictures are not showing up yet and they are working on all of that too.  This is a new concept, new website, so there will be things to work out.

I’ve also sourced some really fun and exciting new wallpapers from Graham-Brown which will be going in there hopefully today.  Wallpaper is back! And these new ones are so fun and unique. I’ll do a post sometime soon about some of these wallpapers and how to use them effectively.  Who knows, I just might have to use one somewhere in my house.  Wait til you see them.

Thank you ALL for your support these 3 years that I’ve been blogging. Without all of you behind me, I wouldn’t be moving into new territories and being given new opportunities.  I appreciate all of YOU!

This was just the incentive I needed to take on a weekend project with the freezing weather we have been experiencing. I bought the beadboard wallpaper and will do my powder room on the main level later this month. Thanks Rhoda – I will shop with confidence knowing that I love your sense of style! Also re: your New Year post about what will “go out of style” …. my last house was 120 years old and had beautiful wainscotting in some of the rooms. I think it is traditional and here to stay!

Congrats! I checked it out immediately because I’ve been waiting (per your instructions!) to buy my beadboard wallpaper. I see in your notes you say that the adhesive is sold separately. Can you provide some info on that? Thanks & best wishes for success with Open Sky!

Rhoda, I’m a bit confused about the wallpaper. Are there actual grooves in it or are the grooves simply a shadow effect? Thanks so much and good luck in your shop! I dnjoy reading your blog!

Please carry that bracelet you modeled earlier in the week.
I am CRAZY for it – especially since you can style it yourself.

Am I the only one not getting pictures of the two footed bowls when I click on “details”? Best of luck in your new pursuit, Rhoda!

Thank you girls! I’m really excited about this new venture. I’m SO hoping to get some fun products in there & add lots more to the shop.

Jan S. – I am having them check on that adhesive thing right now with Graham-Brown. The item # of the product is the pre-pasted version (which is what I want in my shop) & the description talks about adhesive, so I’m making sure that they are shipping out the pre-pasted version for my shop. If there is a problem I will let that be known, but I’m pretty sure that the description is just an error. It’s not something that I wrote up myself. They are letting me know ASAP on that!

Sandy, if you missed my tutorial back in June on this product, take a look here for ALL the details:

    http://southernhospitalityblog.com/beadboard-wallpaper-project/

I promise, there are actual grooves in the paper & you can’t tell it’s not the real thing. My friends who I told about it have come to my house & are amazed at it. It is great stuff if you don’t want to go to the trouble of power tools & cutting real wood. You paint it just like you do your trimwork & it looks fantastic.

And yes, I mentioned that all the pics are not showing up yet, they are still working on some of the glitches with that, so I hope to have that cleared up soon. I know you will not want to buy without seeing a pic, I totally understand that.

I’ll be adding a link from my sidebar over the shop, so you can check it out periodically for new things.
