The Real Tabletop Porch Tree

This year, since I spend so much time on the porch, I decided I needed a real tree out there.  Just a small tabletop would do, but I wanted it to be the real thing, so I could at least enjoy the smell.  So, off to Home Depot I went and found just the right one.

It is small enough to sit on the storage bench and my mom’s vintage ornaments  arejust perfect for this little beauty of a tree.

vintage shiny brites

At first, I was going to leave the vintage Shiny Brites in my little garden birdbath, but the more I thought about it, I really wanted to see them hanging on the little tree, so hang them I did!

It’s the perfect little Christmas accent here on the porch.  My mom’s old-fashioned  red tree skirt ups the wow factor and adds some crimson cheer.

Cute, cute, don’t you think?

shiny & brite

The vintage shiny brites that I grew up with are right at home again.  Some of the glass ornaments, like the snowmen are not vintage and they are pretty too.

Every one of these shiny balls bring back memories for me, since these hung on our tree when my sister and I were growing up.  I’m so glad we didn’t break them all and have many of them left.  My mom passed them on to me for safe keeping.  She knows I will treasure them.

I love their colors and shapes and colored lights just seemed appropriate for these too.  That also brings back memories, when we had the big ole’ colored bulbs on our tree.  You too?  🙂

star

A vintage-style star is another throwback to the good old days.

I think it’s perfect this year!  Just what I had in mind.

This little guy has been in our family for a long time too.  He’s an adorable reindeer.

You can find me sitting in that comfy chair just over there on the other side of the room.  Meet my new office!

Yep, I’m blessed indeed!

Merry Christmas, y’all!

I’m joining Sarah’s Christmas Tree party today and that wraps up the Holiday Home link parties for this year.  It’s been so much fun having all of you join us!

Edited:  I see on Twitter that Sarah will post her Tree Party tonight, so check it out later today!

What an adorable tree! Love the vintage feel of it! That tree topper brings me back to my own childhood tree. Thanks for sharing.

Rhoda, I love your REAL tree. I miss the smell but need a 10 ft. tree and the real ones are WAY too wide for our room. So, a prelit, “slim” tree it is for us! Fa La La!!!! XO, Pinky
