hank you all for coming along on the slipcover journey with me and Grandma Eleanor. It’s officially finished now and I’m glad to say we are done. Eleanor really put everything she had into this project and she was proud of the finished product and I am too.
That $5 fabric I found at the yardsale really turned out to be a great weight for the slipcover and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s not a precisely tailored slipcover, but rather a little bit shabby chic and that’s fine too. I shudder to think of what it would have looked like had I tackled this one all by myself. 🙂 You saw the ottoman already, so here’s the chair.
We added velcro down the side of one of the seams in the back to get it in place and that worked out perfectly too.
And just because I know ya’ll want to see more of Grandma Eleanor, I took a few more videos of her on that last day we worked together.
We’ll start with me picking Eleanor up at her house:
Then, as we’re driving, Eleanor and I talked in the car along the way and I got some great dialogue with her, this one about her travels back in the day:
Eleanor loves horses:
And here we are with the finished slipcover. Eleanor thinks I’m taking her picture, I think. I didn’t tell her I was video taping, she’s so funny in this one:
Did you catch the tip she wants? Isn’t she hilarious?
She loves a little nip here and there, especially wine and is always trying to get us to stop at the store for some (says it helps her relax…you know, with that stressful life she leads :). My hubby got her some brandy awhile back to appease her, but really her Dr. doesn’t want her drinking because of her meds.
That’s Eleanor for you!

Grandma Elanor is just the cutest thing I have seen in a long time. Get the little lady a brandy – she earned it 🙂
Grandma Eleanor is wonderful! She just made my day. Thanks for sharing her with us.
Rhoda, These videos are so precious! My grandma passed away last Dec. at the age of 97. I wish I had done videos like this with her. They are something you will treasure always. Make sure you put them all on a DVD for safe keeping!
Rhoda – I LOVE this! She is just darling!!
Great slipcover!!!
That was fun, Rhoda! How in the world did you do that video, in the car!?
The slipcover is gorgeous. Eleanor, as always, is a gem. A little nip of brandy won’t hurt a bit!:-)
It looks fabulous and what a great lady to highlight.
You are always on the ball.

Grandma Eleanor rocks!!!
How funny..I lost my great-grandmother 8 years ago at the ripe young age of 5 days short of her 101st birthday, I wish I had taken the time to video her. I sure do miss her..
Your slip cover looks AWESOME. Have fun on your trip.
I got an e-mail from Vonda and they are in Tampa-didn’t know if you had heard from her yet.

I love Eleanor – where in the world would we all be without the wisdom and “fortitude” of that generation? We should all have recordings like that of our parents/grandparents.
Fabulous chair, and your grandma is just so sweet.
Rhoda,
What a great looking chair……Grandma Eleanor is just the cutest thing ever!
Blessings,
Linda
Love the slipcovers. I have a couch and love seat that I have thought about recovering but don’t have the nerve to start the project.
